“Excellent location, clean and efficient”
Reviewed August 18, 2013

The hotel location is close to perfect, just couple of steps from Chinatown and two blocks away from two subway stations. By taxi it's roughly a 30-50 minute drive (40 CAD) from Trudeau International depending on traffic. Vieux-Montreal is easy to access, maybe 10 minute walk and also downtown is in walking distance (15 minutes). The hotel is definitely cool and trendy but on the other hand after couple of nights the black walls and black ceiling (and the large yellow mirror next to the bed!) starts to feel a bit uncomfortable. Especially when the room itself is quite small.

Basic things are in good order; bed is comfy, the room was kept clean and there was hardly any noise from the street. However this might not be the case at lower levels. I stayed at 12th floor. The lack of breakfast except for a complimentary cup of coffee and a muffin was bit of a disappointment. This is not a major problem since there's a supermarket with comprehensive selection just 200 meters away and the room was equipped with microwave, fridge, basic dishes and cutlery.

Would I recommend hotel Zero 1 is a tricky question. If you are looking for an efficient and reasonably priced hotel with excellent access to both Montreal sights and business district, then definitely. Just be aware that like someone else commented earlier, it's a true "Blade Runner" experience!

Room Tip: Nice view from the highest floors facing Chinatown.

Old Montreal, the Old Port, Chinatown, and handy métro stops are all walkable from this hotel. The décor is Swedish modern which was different but functional. The lobby was spacious and the front desk personnel were extremely friendly and helpful. Muffins and coffee were available each morning. Previous reviews have indicated an elevator problem (long waits) but didn't seem aware of the rarely-used lift at the west end of the building. An open terrace on the fifth floor provided comfortable lounging and views of the park across the street in which nightly concerts were presented, the downside being that it seemed to be a haven for drug sales in the late hours. The spotless rooms were small but efficient. Innovative design allowed a queen bed, plenty of storage space, and a fridge, microwave, sink, and coffee maker. And so French: wine glasses, cheese/bread knife, and cutting board! This well-kept and well-run property is a good value.

Room Tip: South side rooms on higher floors have good views that include Chinatown.

We stayed here for one night only in August and enjoyed it. The room was spacious and the bed was really comfortable. The bathroom was also nice but our shower was a little difficult to use as it kept slipping down the rail. However, this was only a minor problem and is can be easily sorted out. The design of the room is cool, with dark walls and mirrors. It was quite well located, especially if you like Chinese food! And it didn't take long to walk to the main shopping street or old port from there. I would recommend this place to somebody who wants a nice, well located place to stay on a short visit to Montreal.

We stayed here for just one night and we were very happy with the room and the friendly staff. The only problem was that it took almost an hour to get our vehicle from the valet at checkout time. They had asked us to call 30minutes prior and perhaps they were busy so I would recommend calling down even sooner.

We loved this place, large room, great location and affordable. We even had a kitchenette which was very handy. Sometimes had to wait a while for the elevators but all in all it was a good place to stay.

The bed - amazingly comfortable! So much so we did not want to get out of it in the mornings.

Large rooms, nice views, great free wifi - a router in every single room! Free muffins and coffee in the morning an unexpected bonus. Late checkout of 12pm, great to enjoy the comfortable bed that little bit longer.

Great location, worth the price.

This place was so cool. It was reasonably priced considering the great location (right between Chinatown, downtown, and the Quartier Latin). It's decorated like a hip nightclub, with white modern furniture and black walls. The rooms are small, like other reviewers mentioned, but we were pleasantly surprised to see that tucked in the bedroom wardrobe was a mini kitchen, complete with a microwave, mini fridge, sink, coffee maker, dishes and utensils. The wifi is good, the window is huge, and the view is really nice.
There is some loudness coming from outside, but you can't really complain because we are downtown afterall, and the music stops promptly at 9pm.
