We stayed at this HGI for a three day extended weekend. The room was very nice, although our room had no view at all (just taller buildings). Good TV selections, in-room refrig, all the normal HGI features were included. The rooftop pool/hottub was very nice although during peak vacation season it was often quite popular (busy).

Our first morning, a Sunday, we had superb breakfast service (and left a very nice tip). The second morning (Monday) the breakfast service was extremely slow. Our final morning, a Tuesday, service began like Sundays, but as the restaurant began to fill, service deteriorated. This led me to conclude that there is insufficient staff to provide proper Hilton level service in the breakfast restaurant. As Hilton Hhonors members who have status, our breakfast was complementary; but for those who were paying $16.95 (plus tax and tip) for breakfast, this service level needs to be made right.

Would we go back? Only if (like this time), we could not get a room at the Embassy Suites.

A friend and I spent an extended weekend in Montreal to attend the International Fireworks Exhibition [L'International des Feux Loto-Québec], and I chose this Hilton because it was one of very few hotels offering disabled-accessible rooms with two (2) beds. For a person with ambulatory problems, there are very few lodgings which are fully accessible.

First, the staff is exceptional. I did not meet a single staff member who was not fully conversant in both French and English, very important for Americans who do not speak a second language [my friend being included in the group which does not understand a word of French].

Second the room is truly accessible for a person with disabilities, absolutely perfect for someone who uses a wheelchair, though it does have a few problems for ambulatory people who rely on a cane or walker. There is more than adequate room for wheelchair movement around both beds, the furniture, closet space, and bathroom. The closet even has accommodations for someone using a wheelchair, while the bath has several bars and a transfer bench at wheelchair height, along with an optional lower shower head. While I commend the Hilton for their thoroughness, my only complaint was that none of the fixtures were placed to be used by someone who is ambulatory, especially someone who is above average height.

Security and safety is very thorough, with electronic card doors, with the same cards being used for access to the underground garage or use of the elevators at any time, and access to the main doors after 11:00 P.M..

The hotel is located on the south side of Rue Sherbrooke Ouest, just west of the intersection with Avenue du Parc and Rue Bleury; there are a number of small restaurants [and even a full-sized grocery store!] within a very short walk. The location is also very easy for people arriving from the U.S. via the Pont Champlain, but can be difficult to return the same way due to traffic. A cautionary to American drivers depending on GPS: the voice announcements included in most of the GPS systems mangle the street names so badly they're not understandable, and the manufacturers are not as current on traffic pattern changes as they are for U.S. highways.

The Inn is fairly close to McGill, the downtown shopping areas, and Vieux-Montreal. If you wish to walk, there is more than enough to interest you in the immediate area [if you're a walker, there's even more in range]. Montreal also has a very good public transportation system, Le Metro, as well a a very obvious and large fleet of taxicabs.

When choosing a hotel, if you have no other major considerations as to location within Montreal, I would definitely suggest the Hilton Garden Inn.

Room Tip: Rooms on the back side of the hotel are much quieter, as the front faces onto Rue Sherbrooke, which...

we stopped there for 2 nights and we have beed satisfied. We booked one room with 2 queen beds. The room was clean and very big. Some noise outside but all in all a good accommodation.
Only the hall was a little bit old.

Went with friends and we had three rooms-all were great. We had half priced drinks at the bar during happy hour. Went out for dinner and went to the outdoor terrace. To our surprise we saw amazing fireworks as a bonus. We would totally stay here again. Slight noise from the road on a Friday night.

Dear Reviewer,
We thank you for choosing to stay with us while visiting Montreal! We are glad to hear that you enjoyed our Circos Resto Bar 4pm-7pm specials. Apart from half priced drinks, we also have a special Tapas menu served during this time that is quite tasty! It is great that you were able to experience our Fireworks! Another of Montreal's many summer festivals; the International Fireworks Festival typically runs from end of June until beginning of August and during this period we are privileged to take advantage of incredible fireworks on average twice per week.
We hope to have the privilege of serving your future lodging needs,

This is my 2nd stay in Montreal...the last time I stayed at the Le Meridian which was also a great experience but the HGI was more of a bargain, a better (although corporate and less hip/boutique) experience, and a better location as I was a short walk from Mt Royal running trail, across the street from McGill and a block from Place de Arts station. Highly recommended.

Reading others' reviews, lots of folks used "clean" to describe this hotel. For a Hilton, this didn't sound like high praise and we actually considered staying elsewhere as a result. In truth, the hotel WAS very clean. And we liked just about everything else about it, too.

Our 8th floor room faced the inner courtyard, so from our room we heard nothing of the jazz festival or hustle and bustle that is Montreal, but we were so close we could come and go as we pleased. Outstanding central location (much better than the Hilton Bonaventure which is out of the way in the business district), around the block from the Jazz festival main stage, short walk to Old Town and the cathedral, short walk to the club scene. Excellent hot breakfasts at the hotel restaurant. Food representing every corner of the globe mere footsteps outside the hotel's front door.

Only negatives: exorbitantly priced self-parking ($23USD/day plus taxes, about $26/day total), very weak in-room WiFi (which was free) though no problem with ethernet, annoying elevator (requires your room key, tricky when there are multiple passengers, secret is each key gets to record 1 stop), and my wife's disappointment that while the flowers in the lobby and at floor landings were attractive, they were all fake (you can find real plants on the 11th floor, though).

The 11th floor sports a very nice pool, gym with new equipment, and a mosaic-tile jacuzzi. There's an outdoor deck with a breathtaking view that spans from Mont Royal to the St Lawrence River to the business district.

We found the staff to be kind, attentive, and genuinely wanting to be helpful yet not overly-eager or intrusive.

We were very happy with our stay. This hotel was the perfect backdrop: not too so enticing as to tempt us from exploring Montreal, but sufficient to meet and exceed our expectations in every way that mattered. No question we'll choose this hotel again for our next stay in Montreal.

Dear Guest,
We thank you for taking the time to review our property and your recent stay with us. We are extremely appreciative of all the feedback and are very pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay. Cleanliness and Service are our top priorities, as we understand how important it is for our guests to be comfortable and feel like they are at home while staying at our property. We can understand that you felt the parking may have been a bit pricy. Our parking facilities are strictly reserved for hotel guests, and in an urban setting where space is limited, parking is typically a little more expensive. As for the key card requirement needed to access the elevators, it is put in place to ensure that only registered hotel guests have access to guest room floors in order to give the highest level of privacy and security to our patrons. We truly hope that you will visit us again soon and that we will have the privilege of serving your futures lodging needs.
