We enjoyed this cute coffee and bakery spot, just down the street from Hotel Gault. The service, setting and ambiance were very charming. However, when we decided we really wanted breakfast, we headed across the street.

We'd read a rave review of the place in a guide book and it was close to our hotel, so we dropped by for lunch. The room was full, but a nice hostess asked us to wait for a few minutes outside. We liked the friendliness and the vibe of the place, but the value for the money was terrible. I had a Cuban pork Panini that was $10.95, an extremely small glass of iced tea that was $4.00 and a cookie that was $2.50. No sides at all with the sandwiches but the order-taker said "Don't worry...they're really big!". Just ordinary, actually.

On recommendations of friends (and Tripadvisor) we dropped in on a Tuesday morning for a croissant and coffee. The place was packed to the rafters, people waiting for tables and jostling in line for pastry take-out. We grabbed an almond croissant and a chocolate brioche and two coffees. The coffee was excellent. The brioche was okay - a bit overcooked, but with a deep chocolate flavor. The croissant was a disappointment. It was a twisted, dry little horn, with little taste of almond a a sort of greasy aftertaste. While this is convenient to Vieux Montreal, it is on the pricey side and by no means worth going out of the way for. Perhaps the sandwiches are better. . . .

Just ordered pastries. Food OK but workers are a bit pretentious. They are popular and the place is listed in all guide books so I guess they think they can act any way they want. Got impression they weren't welcoming of young children.

Everyone that works here are so nice, and the food is outrageously delicious especially the homemade ricotta and the berry pastry. You must go if in Montreal!
