“Excellent experience”
Reviewed July 10, 2012

We dined twice here after having the recommendation for this restaurant by our concierge. Interestingly enough they don't seem to try to entice the tourist trade as the menu is handwritten in French and I don't recall that the hours are posted. One of our favorite quotes from our waiter when asked was, "I am your English menu". He walked us through the options and we chose black cod (sublime) and red snapper (excellent) and it was served with the potatoes (to die for) and a slaw from cucumbers (who would have thought, but the end result was fantastic). Second meal was black cod for me (a completely different presentation with carrots and kalamata olives - again delish) and for hubby was papardelle with fruits de mer and it was fabulous. Dinner takes time to come out, but then again we never felt like we were rushed in any of our restaurant experiences in Montreal. This was my favorite meal experience in Montreal and I wouldn't hesitate to encourage you to try this restaurant. Don't let the fact that the menu is in French intimidate you. Wish it was a bit more upscale for a romantic appearance, but great food overcomes frou frou decor.

“Even better the 2nd time”
Reviewed June 9, 2012

It was our 2nd visit and everything was perfect. We were sitting at the counter so the interaction with the chefs really did enhanced the experience. We both had different foie gras appetizer's and the Prime RIb for entree. The mash potatoes are to die for. Desserts are simple but well executed. The wine list is full of great private import at decent prices. Great meal, great service and there will surely be a 3rd and 4th time...

“Good food - salty”
Reviewed May 26, 2012 via mobile

The fore GRAS with the caramel was very good as was the seafood salad. The Bavette de boeuf was too are and very salty. Quite disappointing. The rabbit was excellent although I suppose my palate isn't used to meals being as salty anymore! Service was cordial and they were very accommodative with our newborn. Loud music left a lot to be desired, took away from the overall experience.

“An amazing culinary delight for all......”
Reviewed May 11, 2012

In my opinion the BEST restaurant in Montreal. The food the service and staff exceed all expectations. I have been eating there for 4 years and truly enjoy an restaurant that you don;t even have to order. The menu changes daily.....so just let them bring you a meal and enjoy. Everything is delicious.
Make sure you reserve early.
Doug
PS: You have to try the "Foie Gras Poele au Tatin de pommes

“The four astonishing Chefs”
Reviewed April 26, 2012

The restaurant is located in the suburb of Park Extension and sits approx, 40 people. Décor is uninspiring, simplistic and the service ok if you bring enough time. The kitchen is part of the restaurant and a limited menu is offered which is updated on a daily basis. The nearby Jean Talon market determines what is available and the chefs double up as waiters, busboys and sommeliers – quite unusual but refreshing to see them working very enthusiastically. We had the foie gras which comes in many variations and shrimps as starters and a fish dish and risotto as mains. The food was very tasty and the “nouvelle cuisine” style presentation excellent. For dessert we had a superb crème brulee. The owner recommended from the very long wine list a Sancerre to accompany the food which was very appropriate.
The all over dining experience was good although the music was too loud to have a decent conversation.
