Best Western Laval-Montreal
Ranked #8 of 14 Hotels in Laval
Reviewed May 20, 2012

We stayed four nights in early April on a family visit in Montreal. We have stayed at other Best Westerns, and have come to expect a very good level of customer service. While the price we paid per room was very good, we will not stay here again - or not until we hear that the hotel is being better managed.

The rooms are of a good size and all have good access to natural light. Even though the hotel is on a major highway, we did not hear the car traffic. If possible, opt for the Executive rooms as these come with more comfortable beds, linens and duvets.

The hotel has smoking and non-smoking rooms. While we were there we heard other guests (two families with small children) complain of smoking smells in their non-smoking rooms.

We had problems with our room keys two of the four days during our stay (not able to access our room). This meant trips down to the front desk and delays while we waited for service. There was only one person working the front desk (and answering incoming calls). On the third day, the maid's key didn't work for our room - and the hotel reset our keys without notifiying us.

We could not contact the front desk or hotel housekeeping from our room - the line would simply ring no-answer and then skip to a busy tone. A family member tried to call us at the hotel and her call was placed on hold for 15 minutes until it was finally transferred to our room.

The location of the hotel requires a car for all trips. The hotel is adjacent to an industrial/commercial park. There are no restaurants nearby. The hotel itself does not have a restaurant and the morning breakfast service is outsourced to a local catering company. The breakfast was okay given that it was included in the price of the room.

Even though the room rate was lower than other Laval hotels of the same quality, we will not stay here again. A minimal level of customer service is necessary for customer safety and comfort and this was sorely lacking at the Best Western Plus Laval.

Room Tip: If you are going to stay here, be sure to book an executive room if you care about the quality of th...

Nice hotel
Awkward way to get there
Coffee in lobby is usually cold and stale
During my stay there was no milk/creamer available
(one employee told me at 6 am that they are out of cramers and they will have them at 10am...... Wow what a service
I came back around 4 pm , coffee was still stale and cold and guess what there were no creamers. Talked to Manager and he promised there will be creamers next day.

Fabulous hotel (if you can find it!). Reasonable price. Hotel is located along service road near Costco. Previously the Best Western. It has an unlit marquee/sign, so we keep passing by it at night. As of this writing, gps or mapquest does not give quite correct location but new hotel management will fix that. Hotel staff is helpful and professional. Our room was spacious, comfortable, crisp, and clean. Nice hot shower. It had a hidden ref & flatscreen tv. Well-lit, free ample parking. It seems like an outside catering company serves the breakfast because you have to hand them a stub (given to you at check-in) before you eat. There's scrambled eggs, sausages, pancakes, cereal, and juices served in a nice big open breakfast area next to indoor swimming pool. There are 2 computers for use @ the lobby/biz area. Also, nice little workout room. Food places not nearby. We'll definitely stay here again when in the area.

I stayed a this hotel twice in the past. It used to be a Best Western, and they were alright back then. Stayed there again because of the location near my company and saw they made some really nice renovations to the place. The staff were all really nice and helpful. Would definitely stay again!

The hotel is basic (no restaurant for dinner or bar) but clean and tidy. I stay here frequently for business becauase it is close to my company. The price is more reasonable than the others in the area but it is not in walking distance to restaurants or shopping.
Most people have cars so if you have a car it is close enough to whatever you need.

Lovely hotel, helpful staff but really suitable for business clients who have cars. The restaurant only serves breakfast; not dinners. There is nowhere nearby to get food as the hotel is in an industrial estate next to a very busy main road. However, the hotel has been well sound proofed; my husband is a light sleeper and we slept like logs in the comfy beds and enjoyed the nicely fitted-out bathroom; clean rooms.

Room Tip: All rooms seemed to be nice.

My friends and I chose this hotel because of the price (during the Formula 1 weekend), Montreal was pretty nice and we even went to a pretty nice night club in Laval as an advice from a recepcionist, good! The swimming pool is not warm (We thought it were), They have an ice machine that made the drinking easier for us. The price was good for the quality of service we had. The only problem was the distance from Montreal, that made it a little bit more exhaustive than we thought, but I do recommend the place.
