Great room, delicious gourmet food!

This large, quiet house with on-site parking is conveniently located between the old town on the harbour and the newer shops in the north part of Summerside - a little too far to walk in either direction but no problem with a car. We stayed in the spacious Captain's Room at the back of the house, looking out over the park-like backyard and garden. It had the most comfortable bed (a glorious kingsize) of our 29 days on the road. It also won top honours for the spacious shower, great water pressure and for having a vanity to put our toiletry kits on! There's an extensive collection of DVD movies to choose from, a comfortable parlor and a computer station for guests. Gerry, the friendly host, is a professional chef who brings his expertise and flair to the breakfast table in the form of his own herbs and flowers, locally-sourced ingredients and delicious, housemade goodies. If you give him 12 hours notice, he'll also prepare you a gourmet dinner - how decadent is that? You don't even have to leave the premises after a long day of exploring! We wish we'd had enough time to engage his talents in this fashion - there were raves in the guest book. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: All rooms looked comfortable and welcoming. There are 4 to choose from so it depends what you'r...

And it was. "Your hot breakfast today is....porridge with apricot, prunes and cardamom", announced the Chef. Followed by an egg benedict (that's right...one egg benedict) and toast and some pretty good coffee. Another morning it was hot polenta with fruit and cardamom, followed by an omelette with asparagus and (yech) goat cheese. I passed the asparagus to my wife, and held my nose while swallowing the goat cheese. Not everyone enjoys goat cheese.
It's not that breakfast wasn't well done, or tastefully served. Au contraire, the point is that there was no consultation. I have never in 20 years of B&B, never been advised or asked for my breakfast preference. Nor has any B&B of my experience required breakfast attendance on the dot.

On the other hand, the Warn house is perfectly clean, tidy, and welcoming in every way. Great bed. Beautifully decorated. Gerry and Alice the perfect hosts. A quiet and private retreat for the road weary.

Room Tip: The Captains room is the best, with private bath, and a full cross breeze.

We stayed at the Warn House from July 6 to 8th. The accomodations were exceptional and the breakfasts memorable. Our host and hostess were friendly and helpful. The B&B is located in a very quiet area (cemetery next door). The Captain's room was very clean and beautifully decorated. The ensuite was roomy and updated. Both nights of our stay we dined at the B&B for dinner. The food was delicious and the presentation impecable. After being on the road for a week, my wife was extremely grateful for the use of the laundry facilities. We would not hesitate to stay at the Warn House again and will recommend it to our friends. Thank you.

First class accomodations in an elegant older home- cozy, comfortable, well appointed rooms. Food was the most extraordinary I've ever experienced in a B & B - fine dining at it's best !
Guest lounge and morning tea/coffee were added bonuses. Gerry could not do enough to make our stay an exceptional one - he even drove us to/from the Sting concert so we didn't experience parking hassles ! Anyone who doesn't enjoy ths B & B, should just have stayed home in the first palce, as they are incapable of pleasing ! I can't wait to return !!!

We highly recommend this B&B in Summerside PEI. We stayed for over a week while attending The RBC Cup hockey tournament in mid-May and found it marvellous! We stayed in the well appointed Captain's room and thoroughly enjoyed Gerry's varied and delicious breakfasts each morning. As well he prepared us two special evening meals that were scrumptious! The cosy living room downstairs was the perfect place to relax reading and knitting! Summerside is a quiet and beautiful place, easy to get around and just a short drive to so many great views and attractions. Thanks Gerry and Alice for being such great hosts!

Room Tip: The Captain's room had it's own bath and windows on three sides so very bright and airy - aw...

Arrived at this older home, beautifully kept. Linens and decorating is very tasteful. The hosts Gerry and his wife are very pleasant. They stress their rules upon arrival as well they have posted in rooms and in binders. "No shoes" policy, which is fine, except for elderly and those with arthritis. Hauling in multiple suitcases and having to take off shoes to take upstairs everytime is just plain inconvenient and a pain. If you plan on having a bed and breakfast, make sure your home is decorated/designed to accommodate frequent visitors. We stayed at 19 bed and breakfasts during our stay and this was the only one with this rule. All others said the flooring was chosen to take the frequent footsteps. The rules about speaking with "a quiet voice" is fine if you mean after 11pm, but really at all times! We are always quiet travellers and we have had experience with noisy travellers, but I felt like I was back in school with all the rules. Breakfast was porridge with raisins etc in it- would have preferred plain porridge and the offer to add raisins etc if desired. I cannot eat raisins. The re-fried beans and salsa on the fried egg was just too much mexican/spiced food for breakfast. No allergies just an unusual choice for a traveller. My mother in her 80's ate very little although Gerry did offer to make her an egg. I feel like Gerry wants to make this a high -end bed and breakfast, but that is not what a weary traveller wants. This is by no means a negative comment about his ability as a chef. We want a comfortable bed, clean surroundings and plain, old good food. (Call the Hunter House and get some tips from them on breakfast ideas).

Room Tip: Ask what is being served so you can ask for substitution, if necessary.

We stayed for one night in Anne`s room and liked our stay very much! We enjoyed an amazing dinner prepared by chef Gerry. Excellent mussels and salad with angus beef! The breakfast was also very delicious and nicely decorated. We recommend this wonderful B&B and Gerry´s dinners to everyone! Thanks again for hosting us, Alice and Gerry!
