we were advised to only book at the loyalist by a friend who travels on teams a lot. other hotels are dirty and have bed bugs in summerside. The Loyalist is beautiful, modern and clean. We booked one night and stayed two because we were impressed. The room was huge and for a very good price. Call direct and ask for a better rate don't book online. we received a coupon for free mussels in the pub when we arrived. we went down and were so imwmpressed with the food and service. We ate all meals here because it was so good and prices were great! the reviews that say it's old are outdated and not recent, although I will say the bedspread needs to be updated. there was a clean fridge coffee maker hair dryer and all you needed there. the room was spotless. the only problem was the heat can't be turned down so yes we slept with open windows in November. We loved it and there are no bedbugs, mold or must here!! great time highly recommend it!

My wife grew up on PEI so we look forward to returning. This year we tired in our visit with Turkey Day. We booked online and read your reviews showing this property is above average. Well the truth is it is worn out and needs an update. The staff and service was excellent as most places you will find on PEI. The islanders for the most part are friendly and hard working, but despite the staff this place needs a facelift, beds wear worn out, carpets stained, trim around doors and windows chipped. Rooms and general area was clean and overall comfortable. The off season rates of over 100 USD without breakfast seems high but I would call the hotel directly and see if you can get a better rate. Overall very nice hardworking staff doing their best, but the place needs a makeover.
We had a ocean front harbor view room but this being potato season we ended up looking at a large rusting freighter from south America loading potatoes all night with bright spot lites for the 2 nights we stayed, again nothing anyone can do and I support the local industry. But remember that this is not always the quiet sleepily fishing village year round.

Room Tip: Call direct to the property and ask about off season rates

A multi-storey complex full of character. A ground floor pool we did not take advantage of. Spacious room overlooked the waterfront and charming in it's decor. Dining room very well lit with large expanse of windows providing a view of the water. Restaurant had a hint of sports bar with flat screen monitors.

despite the the stories online;this place was found by myself & Large group i am traveling with found these accomidations quiet Wonderful....I(we) had a wonderful room/ found it to be clean & the bed most comforable. I found ALL of the staff i encountered welcoming, .
friendly, helpful & pleasant. (Quite contrary to some prior notes). The grounds, area and surrounding enviroment are fantastic; one must just seek out the offerings. There are always things need improvements especially when you are charge with an older GRAND bluilding such as that. They ARE /Have been working one the bluilding and seem to be making major improvements. What a wonderful placed!!! The food was Excellant. The dining staff also Wonderful. Thanx

This hotel is very asthetically pleasing- looks like an old mansion- very beautiful porch with lots of flowers. Room was fine- nothing overly fancy but certainly nothing to complain about and was very clean- also did have a water view which was great. Staff was friendly. Prime location- walking distance to everything and directly accross the street from the water. Went during Lobsterfest and much of the festivities were literally right across from the hotel. Some nice extras like bicycles to rent. Would certainly stay again and recommed to others as well. Also, price not bad- I've paid the same and more for places no where near as nice.

Room Tip: request a water view

I stayed here with some of my girlfriends for a scrap-booking retreat. Check in was easy, and the room was very clean.
The room needs a decor update, the green carpet and decor are very out of style. But the room was large and comfortable.
We ate onsite for 4 meals and it was all good quality food.
Would stay again as they where very good for a large group. (over 100 people)

Room Tip: Ask for water view.
