“Best Inn in PEI”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 28, 2013

We have been traveling to PEI for over 12 years and have stayed in many different places around the island. We discovered the Colonial Charm Inn about 9 years ago. We love it there. Shelley, Gary, Reggie, and Jeff are now like family. Our room is charming with all the amenities that you could ever need: refrigerator, microwave, air conditioning, and great ambience. Breakfasts are delicious and are totally a fun filled social event. One can meet people from all over the world there. Shelley and Reggie are very knowledgeable about PEI and always know what is going on and where to go for the day. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

Room Tip: The loft was a new addition to the inn this year and is very roomy with all the amenities and a deck...

Lovely B&B, good location. We spent 2 nites. Shelley was very charming and accommodating, did our laundry (wash/dry and folded) which was very much appreciated. We loved our little balcony, room was clean however the bed was alittle soft (it's whatever you prefer) and squeaky when you moved. There was a TV in the room, and a common area with a fridge. Water, tea and coffee was always available and usually some homemade goodies on the table. Breakfasts were a little disappointing: 1st morning (2 - 6 inch pancakes with homemade jam and a tbsp or 2 of yogurt) this much yogurt is not enough protein, 2nd morning was a square of frittata and t-biscuits which was a little more filling (2nd helpings were not offered).

The same warm hospitality booking with Reg, checking in with Jeff and being cared for by Shelly. We felt like we were old friends just seeing their new place for the first time. The decor was full of old world elegance and rich colours with the warmth of long history. The room was excellent; scrupulously clean, comfortable and gorgeous. They have a lovely balance of hominess and convenience. My wife loved being able to take fix herself an herbal tea to take up to the room as we came in from our evening. The food was great by any standard but particularly so for someone like me with Celiac. Jeff the chef is trained in avoiding cross-contamination and his idea of a gluten-free breakfast made me the envy of the dining room. Even my vegetarian wife was eying the bacon-wrapped quiche. We were talking about booking for next year before the stay was over and we were talking about how to manage going back next month as we pulled away.

I stayed here for a week long trip in the summer.

Each room here is unique. I was in a loft area that was recently finished. The loft was constructed in such a way that the floor doesn't squeak or groan. It was a large room - larger even than many U.S. business class hotel suites.

The owners and staff here are very friendly and knowledgable about the island. There are many good restaurants in Charlottetown, but some of the best meals that I had were breakfasts at the Inn.

The people working here helped to make my business trip enjoyable, and I would like to come back to the Inn for a holiday.

We arrived unannounced but I have to say that we were treated like royalty and we had the best time! Reg treated us to his awesome baking and breakfast fare, and made us feel so at home. Our room was awesome and spacious, and the whole house has a unique and special feel. Shelly our host was just super friendly and both Reg and Shelly are just naturals at running a B & B !!

Room Tip: Every room I saw was very nice

We were greeted by Jeff the chef when we arrived and he and his parents were extremely helpful and friendly. Jeff called a local restaurant and booked reservations for us. We met Shelly the owner the next morning and she was as friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. Maybe a little pricey but it's peak tourist season. Breakfast was good. We would stay again.

When arriving we immediately felt at home. We never once were treated like guest, but rather like family. Charming owners, charming home, charming rooms. Put simply, it made for a charming five night stay.
