“Beauty and comfort”
Reviewed August 22, 2012

What impressed me the most about the Fairholm Inn was that it was not only a beautifully restored historic home, but that it was comfortable, even cosy, with modern amenities. There was a little reading room where you could get ice or keep a couple of drinks cold in the bar fridge. We stayed in the Lucretia Starr suite; I loved the way it was designed, with a couple of steps separating the entrance, desk, and bathroom from the bedroom/living area. We also enjoyed sitting in the living room of the Inn on our last two nights, curled up on the sofa with our books. We drank hot chocolate we made using the coffee machine on the buffet table that was set up throughout the day with hot water and a selection of teas. Some other nice touches included a pair of wine glasses in our room, and the use of their PEI National Park pass. The Inn is in a great location, within walking distance of everything we wanted to see and everywhere we wanted to eat. Nicely representative of Charlottetown - historic and friendly!

Thank you for your review. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay with us and felt comfortable in our home. Keeping the history of the house is very important to us here at Fairholm. We love seeing people make themselves comfortable and at home in the living room and sun room. Every room is different in this house and the Lucietia is truly one that has lots of character and comfort. Maybe next time you can experience a different room.

A sensitively restored building from the early 1800's. Friendly and helpful staff. We stayed for 3 nights. Large well-appointed rooms with period furniture and decor. Wifi access throughout. Clean rooms and bathrooms. Good breakfast. Parking included. Highly recommended.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on your stay with us. We do try to keep the history of the house as the focus but also want you to feel comfortable and have the all the comforts of home, such as wifi and private baths. Being located in the downtown core we feel that it is important to have parking for our guests so they can explore the city and not have to constantly be looking for a place to park their vehicle.
Glad you enjoyed your stay with us and hope to see you again.

Great location just a few blocks from the heart of Charlottetown. The Inn keeper really went above and beyond for us. It was kept very clean and had great character. We definitely would go back and recommend it to anyone!

Totally loved the house but couldn't give it 5 stars because the breakfast was disappointing. If you are just looking for a great Historic home, close to downtown you will be happy. The room was spacious, clean, and decorated so nicely. I also really loved the shared dining room and living room on the main level. If the breakfast meal is a part of your satisfaction then you may want to eat out. Such great food in PEI and at Bed and Breakfasts down the road, it's hard not be disappointed in their menu. Our last day we were flying out at 6:00 am, and asked if it would be a problem to have a small take out breakfast for the airport - she assurred us that it was not problem at all. Upon leaving we were given 2 Nature Valley granola bars and offered juice boxes, that we had to decline because of airport security. That pretty much said it all. We would go back though, as we loved the house.

Thank you for the review. I am glad that you enjoyed our Inn, and do hope that you will return to visit with us.
I would like to apologize for the to go breakfast but as we cook a full breakfast in the morning it can be challenging to have carry out items (also not sure what is and isn't allowed through airport security). I am always open to suggestions and ways to improve my breakfast menu. I don't feel that you would have to eat breakfast out if you stayed with us as our meal is filling and made fresh to order. I take great pride in the breakfast that I cook each morning and ask everyone if they enjoyed their meal.
Overall I hope that you truly enjoyed your stay with us and appreciate your comments and look forward to seeing you again.

We have stayed at many B&B's and this is by far the best we have ever experienced! This was our 3rd stay. Can't say enough! Gorgeous historic home fully renovated right in the heart of Charlottetown, beautifully cared for with very comfortable rooms and a superb full hot breakfast! What is especially wonderful about the Fairholm is the Inn Keeper and the rest of the staff, they made our stay so welcoming. We can't wait for our next visit. Highly recommended!

Okay, the only reason I can't give this place 5 stars is the breakfast. The breakfast is just alright, and not fantastic, so I have to hold back on that final star.
Otherwise, this place is awesome. My husband and I stayed in the 3rd floor Brecken suite. It has everything you could want in a vacation room: king bed, gas fireplace, two TVs, a lounge area, A/C, 2-person jacuzzi tub with heated floors in the bathroom and separate shower, modern decor with a classic feel, huge full-length mirror and it occupies the entire 3rd floor so feels very private. It was our home away from home for 3 glorious nights.
The shared living areas (a sunroom on the 2nd floor, and a breakfast/living room combination on the first floor) are spacious, updated, and great places to relax and eat. The breakfast was a little on the skimpy side and , while the food was fresh and tasted okay, it was not extraordinary.
The innkeeper was very helpful, offering park day passes, beach chairs and towels, and local advice.

Room Tip: if you like seclusion, choose the Brecken room for the ultimate get-away

Thank you for taking the time to write your review on your stay with us. Your absolutely right the Brecken suite is very private and allows for you to completely unwind and make yourself at home during you vacation. Our sunroom offers a nice quiet place to relax and unwind with one of our books or something you brought with you.
We want you to feel at home during your stay with us and having a large living room area is key to that.
I try to offer great breakfast choices everyday and love the feedback on the meals. I am completely open to suggestions and new ideas. I try to make all the meals equal and large enough to get you through your morning without making them overwhelming.
Having a few extras to offer our guests such as beach chairs, beach towels and park pass is something that we feel is important and is an added value to our service.
