Stayed here two nights (11th and 12th August) and can't fault the hotel on anything. I knew it wasn't going to be cheap but the experience was worth every penny. Location is terrific too! We went for the greener is cleaner option so got a voucher for $10 off at a local restaurant - and still benefited from the turn down service :)

Wow, Wow, Wow. My wife and I have never experienced this quality of service from any hotel we have stayed in. We showed up 3 hours before check- in and they gladly stored our luggage and spent 10 minutes helping us decide what to do for the next little while. I'm positive they upgraded our room because we had mentioned, at some point, that it was our anniversary. Our room was gorgeous with a huge jacuzzis tub. We only booked a traditional room. They came by while we were out and turned down the bed covers and left chocolates for us. The breakfast in the morning was delectable. Then to top things off they kept our bags in storage for another 5 hours after we checked out and also offered to take us to the airport at no additional charge. When we returned later in the day to go to the airport our bags were already in the SUV and ready to go. I had to practically beg the young lady to take a tip from me.

The staff constantly go beyond the call of duty and make you feel like you are the most valuable customer that has ever stayed there. (Some of the past guest include the likes of Elton John, Reba, Regis and Kelly, and Anne Murray)

In addition, this hotel is close to everything. You can walk everywhere.

Room Tip: Ask for 308

It's pricey but great for a night or weekend away. Location is walking distance from great pubs and restaurants. We got upgraded to a better room which was fantastic. Special surprises were happy hour and the chocolate chip cookies.

The hotel is really well situated in the center of Charlottetown, just a short block stroll from some of the best restaurants available of the island.
Unfortunately, the Great George promises more on its website than it actually delivers in person.
The hotel is made up of numerous separate buildings which run along the Great George street and some of the adjoining as well. This means that guests are often completely removed from the main or central building giving one the feeling of staying in an annex rather than being accommodated in a nice four star hotel.
The staff of the hotel could not have been nicer and were quite attentive especially when we expressed our concerns on accommodation, they did everything they could although the hotel was otherwise full at the time.
Overall, the services are perhaps more guest house than they are hotel and whilst that did not work for us, it may well suit others. The accommodation was spacious and clean and we certainly felt safe and comfortable during our one week stay in July, 2013.

Room Tip: Request a king bed in the central building.

Dear Guest

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for your review of our property and for your kind remarks regarding our employees. They do play a vital role in the success of our buisness and the number of repeat guests we receive. I’m also happy you enjoyed our central location. I do apologize if you found our website description inacurate. We understand that room assignment is one of the most important details when it comes to guest satisfaction. With 54 guestrooms and suites in a collection of 15 Heritage Buildings and room categories as described on our website from traditional to luxury condos and everything in between we highly encourage guests with specific wishes to book the category that best describes their ideal stay. Feedback is very important to us, and we do appreciate you taking the time to post your experience and Thank You again for your comments.

Best Regards,
Michelle

This was the first time I've stayed here. From the time we walked in we were pleased with the look and cozy historic feel of this lobby! The staff were very nice and helpful. There are cookies and cold water in the lobby which you can sit down and enjoy at any of the little sitting areas. Our room was clean and nice and the amenities in the bathroom were great! The continental breakfast next morning had more to choose from than I've seen before. Nice fresh fruit as well to choose from. I will choose this place to stay at from now on! It was a treat to be right in Charlottetown and walk to places.

Stayed at the Great George from July 21-24. We stayed in the main building the room was wonderful. Very clean and the beds super comfy. What makes this hotel so wonderful is the service. It is impossible to name all the wonderful and friendly staff. Their commitment to excellent service is what makes this hotel one of the best I have visited. From helpful recommendations on restaurants, travel directions, carrying our bags in, changing theatre tickets,an extra pot of tea, water etc. No request we made was too much for them. Everyone was gracious and kind. I recommend this hotel to anyone visiting PEI you will truly enjoy it...by the way thanks for having umbrellas always handy for your guests, a great touch..
