This is a gorgeous church inside and out. It has the high arches and beautiful front altar area. It's a nice place to stop and pray on your way back to the water area.

St. Dunstan, the man, was apparently an influential monk then Archbishop of Canterbury in10th century England, a noted musician, artist and metal worker who was canonized as a saint. He is the patron of armorers, locksmiths, goldsmiths and jewelers. St. Dunstan’s, the cathedral/basilica, is a stone church built in a cruciform plan in the Gothic Revival style and completed in 1915 after a 1913 fire destroyed the previous 19th century church on the site. St. Dunstan’s is now designated a Heritage Resource by the province of Prince Edward Island and a National Historic Site of Canada. It is conveniently located in a tourist area of restaurants, shopa and galleries three blocks from Peakes Wharf on the waterfront, across the road from the Great George Hotel and a block away from Province House (current legislative assembly and birthplace of Confederation and another National Historic Site). St. Dunstan’s spires act as reference points if you get lost in downtown Charlottetown. It is open to the public without charge but of course you can always make a donation. There are a number of concrete steps up to the three wooden front doors (usually the right one is open) with a central handrail and wide stone side supports. Inside, if you are expecting old style European stained glass windows, St. Dunstan’s is different. Its side windows depict modern religious figures and images of lifetime marker events like baptism and marriage. However, there is a high vaulted ceiling, wooden pews and statues of angels and saints. A quiet cool place for tired tourists to catch their breath.
