“Apprehensive as we walked in...I should have listened to myself...:(”
Reviewed May 21, 2013 via mobile

The overrunning weeds in the gravel walk should have told me something....the peeling paint on the porch was the next hint...and the strong musty smell once inside should have finished the deal....but we perservered...:(. It was early season but the owner assured us they prided themselves on being open all year so that can't account for the lack of care and maintenance of this place. The interior sitting area was scary dark and so dank that I had to immediately exit. The bed in the "big" room was lumpy and creaked loudly at the slightest motion. Old Victorians can be a pleasure but this one is definitely not....give it a wide miss.

This place was built in the 1870's and neat to wander about it. Our room was great and the bathroom was bigger than our bedroom at home. I would have loved to stay longer to enjoy the game room and sit and relax in the room that looked out to the bay.
Our hosts were so gracious and the breakfast in the morning excellent to start us off on our last day of biking.
Thanks for a lovely visit.

A nice B&B in an out of the way place on Prince Edward Island.
Hosts were warm and accomodating.
View of the bay was lovely.
Not much in the way of local restaurants.
Clean and comfortable.

This B&B is a rather dark old house full of antiques and the amenities provided for the guests are also dated. For example, our shower was in a cramped plastic enclosure and there was a library of video-tapes you could borrow to watch on the old CRT television; nothing was modern. Worse was the neglect of detail so, for example, the robes provided for guests had become worn and off-white, our room was superficially clean but we chanced upon layers of dust under some furniture and the bathroom door would not close. Our host showed us round when we arrived but after we asked for tea (no facility to make your own drinks) it transpired that he and his wife had to hurry off, so we ended up feeling uncomfortable that we had detained them. On the other hand, the breakfast was excellent, unhurried and served in a modern extension to the house which, in contrast to the rest, was bathed in sunlight. This was not the most expensive B&B we stayed at on PEI but sadly it offered the worst value for money.
