“HORRIBLE!!!!!”
Reviewed January 6, 2010

!!BE WARNED!!

The staff at this hotel are the rudest most unhelpful people I have ever meet! We asked for an extra pillow upon arrival and were told no. The hotel is full of young American kids under 21 whose soul purpose is to come across the boarder and get intoxicated legally in a cheap hotel. There were continuous fights and bottles breaking in the hall way all night with no reaction from the front desk when called. If you are looking for a warm welcoming and peaceful stay in Windsor DO NOT STAY HERE!! We ended up leaving at 4:00 am with no sleep.

We will never stay at a Travelodge again!

After once staying at the dumpy Travelodge on Huron Church Road in Windsor, you'd think I'd have learned my lesson but no. I went ahead and booked Travelodge in downtown Windsor. The room for the night was to include a free breakfast.
Walking in, you noticed the temperature was significantly colder than it was outside. It's December. Now that is cold. The clerk at the desk agreed that it was cold and had a heavy sweater on as well as a heater going. Check in was alright. Was not informed that there was a fee for parking until checkout (not on the website that I could find either).
We got up to the room and found it to be a brisk 15 degrees. Tried to get the heat to work with no luck. Called the desk and the clerk informed us we had to jiggle the thermostat (which then fell off into my husband's hand) and turn on a big fan under the window and heat should come out.
It did come, after it burned about an inch and a half of dust in the register first. That's a lovely smell let me tell you. The heat stayed on for about an hour and turned off. We had to repeat the jiggling process about five times through the night. It was absolutely freezing.
The surface areas of the room had been cleaned. That's it. There was an inch of dust and grime around every corner. The bathroom had mold in the shower. The coffee pot still had coffee stains and splashes all over it. But the toilet paper was folded into a nice, neat point at the end, which is always crucial when you don't bother cleaning the rest of the bathroom. Furniture stained to the point of "hey, who do you think that looks like?". Crumbs and crud on the floor. It was gross. The beds sagged in the middle, but it did appear as though the sheets were clean. And if they were, they were the only clean things in the room. No curtains to draw over the sheers so we were treated to neon lights from downtown all night long.
We didn't bother going down to the pool as it was just so cold we assumed the pool would be uncomfortably cold as well. That was our assumption. It could have been the only balmy spot in the hotel for all we knew.
We were never given vouchers or anything for breakfast. It was never mentioned to us when we checked in or out. The woman at the desk asked us if we had a nice night. I told her no, it was freezing and the process we had to do to get heat all night long. All we got was a "oh, I'm sorry". And then a $10 charge for parking on top of our room rate. The hotel was so dirty that we wouldn't have eaten there anyway. If they can't vaccum a carpet, what's going on in the kitchen?
One good thing I can say was that it was relatively quiet. Considering there were a lot of younger guests (21 or so) there to use the casino a few doors down, we didn't hear much at all which was nice.
I wouldn't recommend this dump to my worst enemy. And I'm not a particular person. I want clean and in working order. I don't expect fancy from a Travelodge. And I didn't get it.

We stayed four nights. When we arrived we were given tickets for the continental breakfast but when we tried to use them in the restaurant, they said they weren't accepting them anymore (apparently since January). That being said, breakfasts were cheap and huge in the restaurant so no biggie. Free internet was nice. Basic room and amenities but it was clean and quiet. Parking is only $7.50/day so that seemed cheap. Nice view across river to Detroit.

I stayed during one Thursday night in October 2009. Front check-in staff was very friendly. Our room was fine, quite basic, good thermostat response, cosy. The hairdryer seemed to be falling off the walls (was no longer nailed in properly) but that was about all. Room had a microwave & fridge, exactly the way I reserved the room. Hotel was quite quiet at night.
Location is awesome, riverfront, and less than 10min walk from Casino, and less than 1km from tunnel.
Gym is extremely tiny and sad-looking, same with the pool, but don't worry about those if you're just staying overnight. The hotel is fine for an overnight stay.
Keep in mind parking is $7.50/night. There's a $5/night parking beside the hotel but you must vacate it by 6AM.

We stayed in the Travelodge when we went to the NASCAR race in Michigan.
The hotel is centrally located on the river right by Ouellette Ave. There are lots of restaurants, bars and nightclubs within walking distance, the best ones being Peppers, Papa Cheney's ( which is right next dorr ) and The Pour House. Caesar's Windsor is also within walking distance.
We had a room facing Detroit so we had a great view of the river and the Motor City. The hotel itself is in an older building. Our room was okay but not spectacular. There were a couple of perks...a coffee maker in the bathroom and an internet port for your laptops.
We called room service to order a wake up call but it never came so we slept in. Fortunately we still got to our destaination on time.
The hotel has an okay continental breakfast which was a bonus when we were heading out each morning.
Overall the Travelodge is fine if you are looking for good location or a short stay in Windsor but it's nothing spectacular.

First of all the service at this hotel was great. The staff was friendly and accomidating. We had a slight problem when we first checked in (they gave us a room that was occupied), but we were compensated for our troubles and given a room with an amazing view of the Ren Cen.
The room was average. A little musty smelling, but the humidity was horrible that day. The mini fridge and microwave were nice perks. Everything was very cean. We could of used a few extra pillows, but I didn't bother to ask for them.
The location was fabulous. Walking distance to Ceasar's and all the nightlife. The pool was very small but would do the trick if you had the urge to use it.
Over all, for the price, I would recommend this hotel.
