“Cultural experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2013 via mobile

Visiting town with my daughter looking for a cultural breakfast/lunch. We stumbled upon a place with good food, great service, nice people, and fell in love with Val. Peameal bacon sandwich- say no more

“Best value breakfast in Toronto!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 15, 2013

We found Paddington's at the St Lawrence Market on a recent holiday. We were staying in a hotel close by and thought the breakfast at the hotel overpriced for what was on offer.
Paddington's proved to be the best value food we found in Toronto.
The restaurant has the typical decor for pubs in the area with quirky features photographed on a regular basis by Asian tourists in particular.
It is unassuming in appearance and could be overlooked. It has a lovely big outdoor area to people watch whilst eating.
The staff were very friendly and efficient and got to know us and give us a friendly greeting over 3 weeks.
Back to the breakfast!
For 6 days of the week they offered a special deal on breakfast for under $7 or under £5 including the ubiquitous15% charge. The only day it is not offered is Saturday -the busiest day of the week!
For your $7 you get a choice of 3 eggs -done anyway you like and 3 sausages slices of bacon or ham and homefries(sauteed potatoes) or french fries plus two thick slices of toast with butter and jam and your first mug of coffee - a refill costs a reasonable 90cents.
As well as the egg option you can get 3 pancakes or 3 slices french toast and maple syrup with 3 sausages or slices of bacon/ham and coffee/tea for the same price.
On our first visit I ordered the pancakes and was absolutely shocked at the humungous size of them One covered the whole plate! I only managed one! Ask for a doggie bag and have them later as I did -this is quite common in Canada. The french toast were equally big each one being a complete slice of bread!
If my hubby hadn't such a healthy appetite a couple could share a breakfast -on a couple of occassions I dined on my husband's toast and preserves!
Paddingtons was also among the few places that could supply me with Earl Grey tea - my morning tipple.
We had one of their sandwiches on a couple of occassions and they are equally massive. A couple could easily share.
We loved everything about Paddington's but if they are very busy the sevice can take a while and they are very honest and tell you how long you are likely to wait. There is a constant supply of coffee while you wait as well as papers and silent TV screens while you wait.
Make Paddington's a must on your holiday -you won't be disappointed and you will return again.

“Great Breakfast/Brunch Spot”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 4, 2013

Great waitress and really reasonable and delicious brunch. I just LOVED my eggs benedict for $8.25. I also had a Summer Shandy for only $4.60. You can't find them that cheap in the States!

HUGE portions and just delicious. And also connected to the GREAT St. Lawrence Market!!

“Nice food!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 1, 2013 via mobile

Intended on going into the st Lawrence market but we hadn't realised it wasn't open on a Monday. We stopped at Paddingtons for some breakfast. Good menu choice, peameal bacon was very good and everything was cooked well. There was a nice feel to the place. Very nice stop for breakfast and reasonably priced.

“can't function at half-capacity”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 24, 2013 via mobile

nice location and average menu options. appalled by their inability to function at even half capacity: an announced wait time of up to an hour for breakfast (after being seated for 20 minutes). food is average. nice servers. shouldn't have more than 5 tables if they can't handle their volume.
