This restaurant has an intimate feel to it, well run by the owner, who is friendly and hands on. The food was authentically French. That night they had homemade pasta on the menu which was delicious.

I have been to Lucien twice and both times it was absolutley fantastic!! Simon and his staff provide 5 star service and show a great level of knowledge of the menu and wine list. Everything I have had has been amazing but especially the octopus, oysters, homemade pasta, and fish options. I would highly recommend Lucien!

Went with a small group for dinner and received a warm welcome from the M'aitre D'. Having offered us an initial drink, "possibly a cocktail?" he very quickly proposed making us one of his choice [and not the same one for each person] without any real checking on likes or dislikes. One guest did not like what he was offered and did not consume it and another had difficulty getting the sense of the vodka that was apparently in the cocktail.

It was by no means late in the evening when we selected from the menu but by that time the rack of lamb was down to two portions left and these we ordered. We enjoyed our starters, very tasty and well presented. The rack of lamb for two caused an eye brow or two to be raised on presentation as it looked more like there was only one portion of rack of lamb left and it had been shared or else the portions served here are very small. There was effectively one cutlet on the 'rack' together with what was later described as a piece of lamb that had been turned into a mini burger - tasty yes but not quite what was ordered or expected.

Overall the portion control in Lucien is, in our experience, rather poor and you will not feel you have had sufficient to eat by the time you leave.

The Lucien webpage has a number of complimentary comments posted but with these customers availing of Groupon deals why wouldn't they be happy?

Amuse bouche warm oyster in cream sauce with chives was a great way to start. Warm welcome from the M'aitre D' and the servers who were prompt and unassuming. Sweetbread and tuna appetizers were both great tasting as well as impeccably presented. Salmon and chicken mains continued the very positive experience. The chocolate brownie dessert was to die for. Highly recommended!!!

With convenient location and classical décor, Lucien makes good impression. The menu is quite limited, but the meals appeared inventive and good cooked. Our handsome waiter was very attentive, even sometimes excessively persistent. The wine list is not long and rather randomly selected. The good mood could be spoiled by the exaggerated prices and stupid extra charging for piece of bread.
