We dine in both kosher and non-kosher restaurants, and I never seem to get over why the kosher ones are almost always a compromise. When Bistro Grande opened, it held a lot of promise. Years later, the decor is delapidated and dirty, the food is overly spicey and average, the service is borderline and the smell remains on your clothing for hours afterwards. There's a refrigerated case at the front that's been papered over - WHY??! - and duck tape on the very dirty floor by the door. The 'maitre d'' stands 20 feet from the door - another WHY??! - and the menus are downright dirty too. Where is the owner of this joint, aside from absentee? Why can't this be a respectable joint, like any other supposedly classy dairy restaurant in Toronto? They were lucky to get 3 stars. Fix it up.

This is a very fine restaurant with good food and great service and in an excellent location. Near subways that run North/South and busses that run east/west and right where downtown meets uptown. A high quality place that also happens to be kosher.

Bistro Grande in Toronto, Ontario is a vegetarian (fish, dairy and vegan options- no meat) restaurant in Toronto. Pleasant atmosphere (outside dining available weather permitting), great food, especially the desserts- creme brulee is to die for, and friendly service. I would definitely recommend it

I was visiting Toronto on business and did not have a car. I called a few kosher places and they were not very helpful but the people at this place were great. To time walking me through how to get to the place via the subway and they got my business 2 nights in a row. Food was very good. The bread was amazing. A both nights I was very happy with my choices.
