A terrific little sushi restaurant that provides fresh, tasty sushi and other options. The soup, salad and orange at the end of the meal are terrific additions to an already wonderful meal of sushi.

After a hard week of work in Toronto I headed down to Queen Street in the Beaches for a Japanese meal. I got to Ichiban in time to have a table in the front window. After a beer, salad, and miso soup I had a Sushimi meal that included delicious cuts of salmon, sea bass, and tuna. I followed with the green tea ice cream. The bill was a reasonable $25 plus tip. Good value for money. I'd go back any time.

John the previous franchisee of this chain in the Beach, upped sticks and went west to Broadview and Queen where he opened his own place, with most of his former staff - and the food there is SUBLIME!

The new guy - maybe early 2010 - no comparison. Not only with John and the team, but defrosting fish so it is HOT? The sushi also falls apart, is badly constructed and the service is bad - not least because of the lack of English - but they do try.

The decor is now peeling off the walls and it's a sad reinvention from the previous excellent. I'd avoid.

This is one of the best or THE best Japanese restaurant I have ever been too. The food is amazing!! I recommend the bento boxes. The beef one has salad, beef with vegetables cooked in teriyaki or some kind of sauce. It also comes with rice, sushi/california rolls a little mini bowl of some kind of soup with noodles (sooo good!!!) and some sort of thing that is probably tofu or something delicious!!

It comes with free green tea and appetizers, and sometimes on birthdays they give you free green tea ice creams. Also, you get free fruit at the end.

If you intend on driving, parking is usually expensive (12 or 15 dollars, sometimes more) so I recommend only going either by subway or by car if you plan to spend the day nearby (ie go to the CN Tower, take the ferry to Centre Island, etc.)

So many sushi restaurants!!! This is a good choice, have had dinner and take-out. Both experiences were very good. The party tray is better tasting and better value than most 'sushi' restaurants. Service was a tad slow, the decor a bit tired, but the food was first rate. A pleasant surprise for this area of the city.
