Yes, it would be hard to describe vertical as an "Italian" restaurant and yes, the prices are high. But this shouldn't be surprising from a downtown financial district restaurant that is geared toward expense account diners. I enjoyed a good lunch - the fresh trout was fabulous and almost perfectly cooked - but the show stopper for me is trying the restaurant's wines. They have an extensive collection and your best bet is to have the sommelier recommend a wine that is not listed.
In the summer it's hard to beat dinning outside on the terrace.
