Awesome friendly staff with great food to match. Very accomodating and will make any dish the way you want! Always great to be in a restaurant that knows what vegan means! Quiet with nice decor. Good for anyone; families, groups, singles, couples, etc.

Jean's is just around the corner from our home - and is a regular for us. Sometimes we sit in the modest but clean and very nice restaurant, and other times we pick up and bring home their great noodles and other dishes. The selection is great, the food is incredible - pick up a jar of the special spices as a treat for home cooking. We've never had a bad meal. Desserts are simple but also tasty. The prices are very good. Jean's is a bit away from downtown (just steps from the Greenwood subway), but well worth the journey for Torontonians or visitors alike. Really cannot rave enough about this place...

We happend on this restaurant by chance....It is a new, spotlessly clean and lovely vegetarian neighbourhood restaurant!
We had the pumpkin soup which was a little sweet, but excellent! And the hot and sour soup which had a great "kick". Mmmmmm!
The "Pad Thai" was delicious!
The portions are healthy and we walked away quite satisfied! Too bad we did not have room for dessert, because the dessert at the next table looked great!
The service was attentive, friendly, helpful and quite delightful.
The price was extremely reasonable!

Worth the trip to the Greenwood subway station if you are searching for good house-made Thai vegetarian cooking with a pleasant casual decor for a reasonable price. We appreciate that it's not a noisy place. Comfortable, not romantic.

I especially recommend the Cold Rolls. If you've had these in non-veg restaurants, you will appreciate the difference. My partner loves the pumpkin soup and fake fish. Pad thai also better than average.

Jean is in the kitchen and will adjust flavours to your taste if needed. Her husband Harry, a senior gentleman, is usually sitting in the back corner somewhere, and sometimes comes out to take your order or your money. The two of them have had various other Thai restaurants in the city over the years, all of them good, but Jean felt that we needed more vegetarian options these days.

My wife and I came to this restaurant on a Saturday at around 7:40 pm. At the time, all tables were taken but 2, leaving only 4 seats. I think they were about 12 - 13 tables in total.

At the time the radio music was barely audible over conversations, definitely not a place for a quiet, private meal.

We ordered the following items:

1. Tom Kha Soup, w/vegetables, $4.00

Pretty good, lemony, good amount of veggies. It came warm and didn't stay warm for long. It would have been much better if it had been hot.

2. Taro Rolls, (2). $3.00

Not very taro-y. Good rolls but they don't have enough taro to be called taro rolls. Otherwise pretty good.

3. Malaysian Curry w/ vegetables, $9.00

Creamy, light and subtle flavours that require time to savour and appreciate. Good amount of vegetables, unless you eat a lot.

4. Assam (tamarind) tofu w/ eggplant, $10.50

Strong, sweet barbeque flavour. Definitely need rice to go with it. Can be a little too sweet for some.

5. Coconut Rice, $2.00

Smells coconut-ish, but you can't taste the coconut flavour, but then again coconut doesn't really have a strong taste.

Overall, pretty good with the mains tasting better than the soup and rolls.
