Fabulously appointed condo with luxurious accoutrements that will make you feel pampered while on vacation. Superb coffee one block away, within walking distance of restaurant row, and easy access to metro. Safe, clean, quiet building and wonderful view - daytime and nighttime.
Host spent a significant amount of time familiarizing us with the condo and answering our questions regarding the area and recommendations for our stay.
In a nutshell: it's so good we're going back again this year for another stay!
From the outset, Michael showed himself to be a really efficient, responsive and welcoming person. He replied to my queries about the rental very promptly. He contacted us a week before our flights, to arrange to be at the apartment when we arrived in Toronto.
We caught the UP Express train from Pearson International Airport to Union Station, and then took a taxi from Front Street at Union Station to the apartment. Taxi was 10.50 Canadian Dollars. The UP Express fare was 12 Canadian Dollars each from the station platform machine. NB the UP Express departs from Terminal 1. We needed to get the airport shuttle train from Terminal 3 to Terminal 1.
We later bought a pre-loadable PRESTO fare card which gave us discounted transportation fares for the whole stay, so it only cost us 9 Canadian Dollars to get back to the Airport from Downtown Union Station.
Michael met us in person at the apartment. He is so gracious, articulate, warm, unassuming, so humble. He made us feel that he really wanted us to feel at home for the 9 nights we stayed there.
He realised we were a bit sleepy after two flights from the UK, and went through everything succinctly and yet comprehensively, leaving us knowing how to work the washer, and already connected to the WiFi etc.
The apartment is modern and clean, everything works. The block is a relative new-build, only about two years old, so there's a clean, spacious, modern, well-maintained feel to the apartment and to the whole building. There are 3 lifts (elevators) and an open lounge area downstairs in the reception area.
Things that we'd have had to go out and buy, like washing machine liquid, were already there in the apartment and Michael told us to use them.
Because Michael had showed us how to lower/raise the heating/air conditioning, we had a very pleasant stay in terms of having the perfect temperature for us. Loved the balcony and opening door off the lounge area. The window in the main bedroom can be opened too. Beds were comfy.
The swimming pool is over the road, and it is free during drop-in times. It's also very clean, being newly built too. The pool staff advise you to take your suitcase padlock with you, as the lockers in the pool changing rooms don't actually lock. But you can take your clothes to the poolside instead if you prefer not to leave them in the changing rooms. If you don't have a suitcase padlock, the corner shop (Mart) opposite the pool building sells them from 6 to 12 Canadian Dollars.
The holiday rental lies between 2 tram (streetcar) routes. So you can catch a tram from Dundas St East or Queen St East. More often though, I walked into Downtown Toronto instead. And when you're Downtown, don't miss the Subway walk-through with lots of modern shops, all underground. You'd never know it was there otherwise.
I had a steaming mug of hot chocolate and a pain au chocolat every morning at Sumach. Bliss!
Perfect apartment for a week's vacation in Toronto. Extremely clean, has all amenities you need and easy walking to all main attractions.
Michael is the perfect host; very responsive, attentive and a really nice guy.
Loved the local Sumach Espresso coffee shop.
Had a great Christmas week in the city.
This is a feel good rental, comfortable, immaculate, great view, great location. It took us 7 minutes by car to the downtown core. It is a beautifully designed condo with lovely touches throughout. The only thing we found missing was a dresser to hold small items of clothing in the bedroom, but the most comfortable bed more than made up for it. Michael made our arrival seamless, we were totally impressed with this beautifully appointed condo.
We had a lovely stay in Toronto for 4 days and really enjoyed the condo. It was such a comfortable place to stay and the building was modern and secure. We drove into town, so the secure parking was an important feature. The condo is an easy walk to the distillery district and we enjoyed dinner just down the street at Dominion Pub twice. Sumach Espresso was also terrific; don't miss it. Michael was gracious and welcoming, even after Toronto traffic delayed our arrival. We would recommend this condo and will stay again if we find ourselves in Toronto another time.
The room was exactly what we needed for our fun stay in Toronto. Michael went above and beyond in his helpfulness and our explanations, and even took calls while at work when we needed some info. The private secured parking was fantastic. My literal only issue was on me not Michael or the apartment: something in the apartment (smell of cleaning substance used, a hidden air freshener, potpourri?) played havoc with my allergies. But great place and we would recommend.
Just back from a great 5 days stay in this beautiful condo. Michael was an excellent host meeting us and showing us around and answering all our questions before and during our stay. The condo itself is in a quiet neighbourhood of Toronto with good connections to the streetcars which get you right into the middle of Toronto within 10 minutes. Everything you could need was in the condo and it was beautifully furnished and decorated. I would definitely stay there on my next visit to the city
