a pleasant surprise in the energy filled king west area.
food and service were great. there is a lovely terrace for outdoor dining
tequila ceviche cones were a tasty appetizer, patatas bravas was generous enough to share, (but please ask the server not to call them spanish poutine - it is downright disrespectful) zucchini flowers were heavenly, squid was lovely but the grilled octopus was a little chewy.
our second time here was as pleasant as the first.

Definitely one of the best dining experiences I have had in a while. Staff was attentive, food was delicious and enjoying Champagne and Brunello at 50% off was just the cherry on top! Can't wait to go back!

A family member and I are on the hunt for the best burger within the GTA, so we thought to try out this place considering it is ranked #2 according to Toronto Life (http://www.torontolife.com/daily-dish/restaurants-dish/2012/05/16/25-best-burgers/). Well he is the conclusion after our visit.

The ambience of the restaurant is nice and intimate. Service is good too. Putting this aside, the burger (named 'John's Burger) itself was above average, but not spectacular. What was spectacular was the 19 bucks (excluding taxes) that you pay for it. I have eaten many burgers and can honestly say that you are much better off ordering something else from the menu.

Marben Restaurant for a family get together (all adults). The restaurent is comfortable and interesting looking. Form meets function. Staff is efficient, friendly and attentive, but not overly so. They handled a table of ten with style and efficiency. Lead waiter (Jake?) was outstanding. He had extra hands on when needed (servinging and clearing). He never passed the table without taking a look or checking for empty drinks.....mark of a real pro. Throughout the evening we never had to wave anyone down or look for him. Bravo! We worked off of a prixe fix menu for the table and it was excellent. Three small plates / tapas - enough for all....and each one different from the other - great flavours - lobster croquette, halibut cevice and a potato dish....that was delicious! The openers made us all keen to see what else the talented people in the kitchen were going to do. There were four options for dinner. I had a Moroccan halibut that was perfectly cooked and delicious. Others enjoyed what looked like an amazing burger and a couple had brazed beef that also looked brilliant. We were pretty stuffed and so did not give desert a whirl, but I am sure it would have been as excellent as the meal. You can see a firm management hand here. ALL staff were attentive and all focused on the the 'game' on the floor. A rarity indeed. Thanks Marben.....we'll be back...perhaps not all together, but in smaller groups!

This out of the way restaurant was quaint, lively, had a gluten free option, and was all-around fantastic. Even the burger and fries were fantastic. Highly recommend!
