Description: The Hot House Restaurant & Bar is one of the busiest restaurants in Toronto and the reason is clear... Great food. The Hot House offers spacious, colourfully decorated rooms and an upbeat atmosphere in addition to an eclectic menu to suit all tastes. From thin-crust gourmet pizzas to steaks, rack of lamb, Cajun shrimp, numerous pasta dishes, seasonal salads, and decadent desserts, this menu has it all, including an extensive vegetarian selection. The Hot House Restaurant & Bar also has an extensive selection of wines from around the world, as well as an impressive cocktail menu and a selection of offerings from Canadian microbreweries. The sun-drenched 150 seat patio at the Hot House is an excellent setting to sample some fine Italian wines, Canadian craft beers, or the one of the best mojitos and margaritas in the city. In addition to the patio and the eclectic menu, the Hot House also offers group menus and private areas ideal for birthdays, showers, office parties, meetings, or any other function.

“Bad gluten free pizza”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 19, 2013

First time here, nice location and atmosphere. Excited over seeing gluten free pizza on menu since its difficult to find in most places. Ordered the Hawaiian one along with the Greek salad. Friend ordered clam chowder and salad with chicken breast. Large portions. My Greek salad was delicious and fresh with just the right amount of feta. The much anticipated gluten free pizza had dry toppings and the crust was hard enough to break a tooth! Seriously, I chewed very cautiously. Disappointed since I have had fairly good ones.

Waiter: we both distinctly got the impression that he wasn't too happy about serving women. Hovered by as we chatted and tried to decide. We felt pressured to get on with ordering and we had only sat down together for about 15 min, we ordered to get him off our backs.

Next time will try the pasta dishes, they looked good and they have gluten free fusilli.

“Wonderful New Year Brunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 7, 2013

My boyfriend and I went here for NY brunch. I had never been, and it was great. We were seated near the window, and it was quite sunny, so we had asked to move. We were then seated closer to the wonderful Jazz band that was playing. I have heard that sometimes they can get a bit loud, but when we went it was fine; loud enough to enjoy, but still able to carry a conversation. They have 2 types of mimosas; traditional and tropical. We ordered 1 of each and were both good with the right amount of champagne. Great selection and variety of foods; (Breads, cheeses, salads, omelette station, + lunch options like pasta, BBQ chicken etc). I loved the fresh omelette station which had a great selection of options like sun dried tomato, and feta cheese. Overall, a great experience. Some suggestions would be to have an egg white option at the omelette station. (even if it were an extra charge, I would pay it), and have both white and dark meat options for the BBQ chicken.

“Hot House is the "hot" place!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 5, 2013

While in Toronto for a play, had time for an early evening dinner. The price and quality of this buffet style restaurant more than filled the bill. Additionally, staff attention and service were the best I have ever experienced in similar medium priced restaurants. A strong recommendation for this restaurant as a "must" while in Toronto.

I go to HHC fairly regularly. The menu is varied and the daily soups are usually quite good. They're one of the few places that I've found that serves a Manhattan Clam Chowder (Fridays) and it is delicious. The food is always consistent and even during the busy holiday season, the service was good and the servers were efficient. Never disappoints. If you're lucky enough to get a patio seat in the summer, take in the view of the historic Flatiron Building across the street and the other historic buildings in the St Lawrence Market district.

“Commercial and Plain”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 30, 2012

Nothing special, the food is okay, but not what I'd call fine dinning. I suppose it could satisfy most palates in that "safe" all around kind of way. It's reminds me of an upscale Swiss Chalet.
