“Great Food, Good Price”

Loved the Coconut Curry! Pad Thai, Satay....etc etc. I dont have a bad thing to say about any dish. And the service was excellent.

The good news - Young Thailand, the First Thai Restaurant in Canada, is now in The Junction
The bad news - it's not worth the drive. On a recent visit, I found the attitude cynical and a sad reflection on a restaurant I have been going to for a quarter of a century. I've enjoyed many a meal at the Richmond St location, on John Street too, and also the very first location near Ryerson University. The prices are now significantly higher than in the past. Service was amateur - the young staff (3) could use some training. Spicy lamb curry dish was listed in the Beef section, which should have rung the warning bell that this choice may not have been a good idea. It wasn't. It WAS beef. The kitchen sent a message via the waiter insisting it was lamb, and wouldn't discuss it further. 'd like to be charitable and say it was mutton dressed as lamb. But it was beef. A spicy seafood dish was OK, but unexciting. And a chicken fried rice dish acceptable. What wasn't acceptable was the appetizer. A double order of fried spring rolls ($4.99 X 2) comprised 5 cigarette-sized rolls. What's a single order, Wandee Young? 2 1/2 spring rolls, maybe? Fried calamari was a little more plentiful, but tasteless and the cooking oil wasn't hot enough. The restaurant buys frozen calamari rings and it shows. No liquor licence. No chopsticks in sight at any table. No cilantro on any dish all evening. Just a hint of wilted parsley. Time to spruce up this menu, Wandee. Toronto has changed in the past 25 years. The competition is much stiffer now.
