I live in the BEACH, so for any tourists that are coming to visit Queen St. East, this is one of the best places to eat! A Neighborhood Delight!

After hearing what everyone had to say about The Tulip, I had to go.
Checked it out solo the first time, had the burger. Pretty disgusting. As well, the beef gravy had chicken stock and curry in it. Not cool.
Decided to give it another chance, and went back with a friend. Had the clubhouse, it was ok.
The floor was dirty both times, tables didn't have condiments, but despite all that the server wore a smile.
Not good bang for your buck; some legends lose their lustre.

Went having read good reviews. Eggs benedict tasted bizarrely sweet and with very fatty peameal bacon. Gravy on brisket sandwich was gloopy. Eggs in Spanish omelette uncooked with rest of dish sailing in liquid. Worst of all was my son's burger - totally uneatable - smelled really really bad. Waiter who served us was really nice - took the price of the burger off the bill, service was actually great. Restaurant was packed so ,maybe this wasn't the usual chef but we all felt pretty nauseous by the end of this.

This place is always humming. We've had our share of steak and eggs, breakfasts with peameal bacon , plates of half and half mushrooms and onions and even had Montreal style smoked meat on rye. It's the perfect spot to enjoy old fashioned diner ambience when we are in the Beach Neighbourhood. The new Retro Menu lists about a half dozen favorites for lunch and dinner with recession pricing. Solid, reliable, consistent and good value. Don't be surprised by weekend line-ups out the
door for this Queen Street East favorite.
The Tulip was one of our first finds after making the big move from Montreal and it is still a favorite after a walk on the boardwalk ( we park at Kew Gardens) . Shop hopping on Queen East is always fun too.
