“Edible but just barely”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 21, 2010

This is a convenient restaurant for the financial district crowd: the location is central, they accommodate groups well, service is quick and they have some set menus for quick and convenient ordering. Prices are also ok although a bit on the higher side due to the location.

The food is really not that tasty, though, and everything is drenched in sauce. There are numerous better restaurants out there if you are willing to walk the 15 minutes to Chinatown.

“Outstanding”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 27, 2010

We went to Szechuan Szechuan on a Wednesday night, and there were very few others there. This may be why our experience differed from some of the other reviewers. The service was fantastic. Our drinks were never empty. The staff was incredibly polite. I frequently noticed the waiter watching to make sure that we weren't in need of anything, and that he wasn't interrupting when he came over. The food was also great. We had the General Tso's Chicken and the Sesame Chicken. Both were crispy and delicious. The portions are enormous, and the prices are reasonable (you'll probably spend as much here, or even less than somewhere like P.F. Chang's, but you get a lot more food). If you're in Toronto, I'd highly recommend visiting.

“Not Recommended...”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 28, 2010

I'll keep this review short and simple.

Save my money and go to another resturant! Szechuan Szechuan is overpriced and for no justifyable reason at all. The service was terrible as we were greeted by grumpy servers that didn't seem to want to serve us. Yes, the place was busy but that doesn't give the excuse for the staff to walk past our table without acknowledging us. There was also a point where two waiters were chatting in the distance debating who would come serve us.

The next con of this place is that the food is extremely overpriced and the quality isn't great. We ordered veggie dumplings, sweet & sour soup and a Pad Thai. The veggie dumplings weren't even steaming when they were brought out and the soup was loaded with salt. I have to admit the Pad Thai was alright just because it was a decent portion size. However, the taste wasn't any different than if we purchased Pad Thai from the food court.

In general, Vaughan/Woodbridge is loaded with great places to eat so don't settle for Szechuan Szechuan.

Happy eating!

“definitely not authentic szechuan food, and very overpriced”

As long as you don't think you are eating chinese food, then you won't be dissapointed.
Had szechuan fish and ma po tofu, both very different from what they are supposed to taste. Staff were indifferent, no smile, no greetings, completely careless; and yet they charge you a compulsory gratuity in your bill. So, you feel double cheated, fake chinese food, overpriced dishes, and yet you are forced to pay gratuity!
