Place is not fancy, but because of the high turnover (it's packed most of the evening, to the point of having to wait for a table), food is super-fresh, and inexpensive, not to mention tasty.
Is this the best sushi I've had? no. Is it the best sushi I've had for less than double the price, definitely.

Handrolls are especially cheap compared to other places, and are quite filling.

Most set meals on the menu come with free soup, salad and icecream.

Lunch specials are even cheaper ($6 gets you a pretty decent, tasty and healthy lunch)

Sushi is subjective, so it's hard to suggest what to get. If you're not used to sushi, stick to Salmon stuff.
My favorites are the spicy scallop, Crunchy and unagi hand rolls.

Though one of the older and busier Japanese restaurants on this Bloor strip, staff are helpful, service is efficient, and the food is good and good value. Line-ups on weekends.

I stop by this place every time I'm in Toronto. Salmon sashimi is a must. I know it's not the best sushi place in the world but finding sushi this affordable and delicious is a surprise to me.

This is one of the best if not the best sushi quality in the city and surprisingly one of the lowest prices. I’ve been going there for over a decade and was never disappointed with the food. The prices did not really change either (few cents, a dollar max). It is a busy place with a lineup 6-9pm and on the weekends despite opening up on the second floor few years ago. This is the place with a bunch of people standing on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant during the busy time. Fortunately, they work out a somewhat number/queue reasonable system over the years. They also, stopped taking reservation for the busy periods. They treat their frequent customers well – sampler/appetizer on the house. If you are looking for an ambiance or romantic sit down, this is not the place. However, this is the place for the high quality/price coefficient.
