Ruth's is a classic American Steakhouse. Their Unique Selling Proposition is that their steaks are presented still sizzling and bubbling.
All the food is excellent. Be sure and try the spinach. Make sure your AmEx is muscled up and healthy. It ain't cheap.

The atmosphere is up-scale casual. The server was very professional. The main course was excellent but the sides were not anything special. I ordered the halibut special and my boyfriend had a rib eye. Those were delicious, as well as the bbq shrimp appy, but the creamed spinach was cold and the potatoes lyonnaise tasted like they were frozen and then deep fried with just a couple sautéed onions mixed in. I would say that this restaurant is indeed a step up from the Keg as it has a better wine list and a slightly more upscale feel. It is also a bit pricier. Having said that I would return again and just try different sides.

Took the boyfriend here for the big 25th birthday a few years ago. They made it the perfect combination of not too flashy but special elegance. A few balloons and glitter at the table, a candle in dessert, and a complimentary photo of us made it feel like a celebration.
The food, as always, was delicious. And the service was exceptional.
I would definitely go back :).

My husband had the steak which melted in your mouth while I had the stuffed chicken which was also yummy. Our friends had the same and loved their meals as well. The only thing was that the price was way too high and we could have had the same meal at almost any other steak restaurant for half the price. The service was also excellent, but the atmosphere was only ok...still it was an experience but one we will not repeat again

We decided to try Ruth's Chris because we got some gift certificates for Christmas. This was the only reason why we decided to go because have heard it's very expensive to eat there.

We ordered the filet and rib-eye steak which were OK. The sides come separate and we ordered the onions ($9) which came on a really big plate. They were a little under-cooked and really didn't seem very appetizing. The sweet potato casserole was better but wasn't really worth $9. The frites were good but was cold by the time we got to it.Overall the meal was average but it was really expensive. We had two appetizers (lobster bisque and escargos), with the steaks, and sides and the total came to $170. Plus tip and parking and the cost of the meal was $200. Keep in mind we didn't have any alcohol or dessert. Desserts were $12 and I really can't bring myself to pay $12 for apple or pecan pie.

There are a lot of better and more interesting places to eat in the city for $200.
The overall 'feel' of the restaurant was really old fashioned. I guess that's why the majority of the people eating there were over 50.

I wouldn't recommend this restaurant.
