“Good Dim Sum, Surly Service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 12, 2013

Typical, busy dim sum restaurant. All the usual yummy favourites. Service is pretty quick and efficient, though rarely friendly -- must be a cultural thing. Been here a number of times and the food and service have been consistent. Some items may not be on the regular dim sum checklist and have to be requested. Unfortunately, my Mandarin is non-existent. Would go back and have done so a number of times.

“Best Dim Sum restaurant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 27, 2013 via mobile

We went to Rol San Oct 26. The wait was 25 minutes for a table, but it was well worth it. Between the 3 of us we ordered about 10 dishes. Everything that was served was very fresh and hot. Two of our orders were deep fried and were not greasy.Servers are pleasant considering that they do not speak English.
Grand total $44.00. Certainly will eat there again, when we are in a Toronto.

“You come here for the plentiful food not the service or ambience.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 22, 2013 via mobile

Got that dinner time hankering for Dim Sum? No problem. Rol San serves it up any time of day when they're open. But first, start by imaging yourself in a bustling eatery somewhere in Shanghai. Expect an efficient waiter void of any semblance of welcome or good cheer. Anticipate the cascading rattle of plates and cutlery unceremoniously being dumped in front of you and marvel at how quickly food appears on your table. You come here for the plentiful food not the service,so relax and start pencilling in your requests. The dim sum is better than most in the city. Consider the dumplings of any kind, they're yummy. The perfectly fried egg plant was as visually appealing as it was delicious and did not disappoint. The delicate shrimp Haar Gow was perfectly steamed but the top marks go to the Shu Maii; plump and dressed in glistening roe it's supple density succumbs willingly to the palate. Go easy on the chili sauce if you really want to enjoy the subtle flavors of sweet then salty morsels that never seem to be in enough.
Check out the regular menu as well. We tried the sizzling chicken and loved it. I cannot say the same for the fried squid tentacles. Too many pieces were far too much of a struggle with little or no palatable returns.
If you go during the peak hours be prepared to wait in the crush line or head out to the back where the waiting is not so arduous. I've driven many a mile to come here, not so much for the service but certainly for the food.

“Fantastic dim sum, good service, little wait”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 28, 2013 via mobile

We went on Sunday for dim sum despite other reviews of long waits and poor service. That was not at all our experience. We had a five or so minute wait and good service throughout our dining. The dim sum is fantastic, the best I've had, even in China. Shrimp dumplings had real shrimp, not a paste. Pork buns were pillowy with generous spicy filling. Soup dumplings were not Shanghai style, but dumplings in broth and excellent. The hit of the meal was minced beef and preserved vegetable in rice roll, think enchilada. Fried pork dumplings were excellent but similar to others we've enjoyed.

“great Dim Sum but other dishes so so...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 27, 2013

If you want Dim Sum here you will have it any time of day (or night) and it's super fresh and tasty! Other dishes are so so...and the servers have attitude. But if your in the mood for Dim Sum give it a try! We'll keep trying other things though. Maybe we just haven't hit the winners on the vast menu. Another thought about the tea...it strangely has an odd colour and no taste. Not sure about that at all.
