“Best moussaka!”
Reviewed October 5, 2013

Always friendly and welcoming. Weekly prefix is a great deal. Warm pita bread is the best - dips are most yummy. Both the meat and veg moussaka are very tasty.

“Mixed Feelings”
Reviewed September 12, 2013

We love the Danforth & I had read good reviews in a magazine, about Pan.
Although our food was very tasty & we had nice service sitting in the 'open to the outdoor window', I did find a 2 inch long black hair in my food.
Bad enough but the family of four nearby us, found a bug on their plate under the little glass serving dish of tzatziki .

The restaurant is beautifully decorated: vintage chandeliers, wooden floors, lots of brick & warm colours, but not a good experience with the food ; ( Hair nets in the kitchen please !

“Great food, service was not”
Reviewed August 28, 2013

We have eaten at Pan several times over the years, and have always found the food excellent, and until this summer's visit, so was the service. I have mixed feelings writing this review, as our recent experience during Summerlicious was troubling. The food was, as always, very good, and the portions were substantial. Pan reliably serves some of the best food you can find on the Danforth, and we thoroughly enjoyed our meals.
Service, though, was another thing. The waiter seemed unfamiliar with the Summerlicious menu (we were there the first week), and he advised us that the bean appetizer would not be ready until 4 pm (it was on the lunch menu, it should have been ready). We ordered the zucchini fritter appetizer, and he repeated it as he wrote it down, but he brought the meat patty appetizer instead. When I pointed out that it was the wrong dish, he said "It's the same thing". No, it's not--one's meat, one's vegetable; one's a patty and one's a fritter. Huge difference. He did take it back, with no apology for the mixup.
In addition, we ordered a glass of the Greek white wine--and went to the bar to make sure it was the Greek wine, as we were not sure the waiter had heard us correctly. The bar tender assured us that it was indeed the Greek white. When our bill arrived, it was the more expensive French wine.
The restaurant was not busy while we were there, nor was he, so it was not a case of being distracted. In fairness, the rest of the meal went well, but the sour note at the end was the addition to our bill of an automatic tip--I did not see anything on the menu that indicated this would be done, nor was it mentioned by the server when he presented the bill. I've never had this happen before. I know it is customary to do this with groups of 6 or more in many restaurants, and with good reason, but always with notice to the customer. And I can understand doing it during Summerlicious, perhaps, but ONLY if the customer is made aware of this, so that someone doesn't inadvertently add a tip on top of a tip, as I almost did.
Would we return? Yes, probably, for the food, which is wonderful, but we will hope for much better service.

“Best Greek food outside of Greece”
Reviewed July 30, 2013 via mobile

This place is a gem. Friendly and fast service, incredibly tasty food. Fried calamaris are great. The lamb stew must be tried, you will become an addict. Not exactly cheap but well worth the delicious and huge portions. We had a lot of food we could not finish and just took it back home. It was great for lunch the next day.

“Opa!”
Reviewed July 24, 2013

Summerlicious 2013 - Greek food came to our mind after trying Portuguese in the Winterlicious earlier this year for the same group of 7. And where else can it be to have the best Greek food outside from Danforth?

With all the great restaurant on the street we picked Pan on the Danforth after reviewing a lots of positive notes about this neighborhood favorite.

Good food with great portion - even greater atmosphere. The night we went we were greeted by belly dancing and live band on top of the most tender lamp shank I ever had in ages. My wife's pork tenderloin is juicy and rich in flavor. The fresh-off-the-oven pita go well with everything, especially the tomato broth of the mussels starter.

Crews are friendly and reservation service is great. Even in the busy Saturday evening full of customers for the Summerlicious they are not pushy or rush in servicing their customers.

It's good food and great services - and I quoted one of our friends in the group, who has had bad experience with Greek food before, "I certainly will come back for more".

That's a good testament.

Opa!
