“Good stop at the Eaton Centre”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 3, 2013

The inside decor was not what we expected. We sat in what looked like an outdoor garden party. The food was good and came in huge portions. The kids menu was typical - our son actually ordered an appetizer off our menu. Service was efficient and food prices were reasonable, but drinks were pricey

“Yuck, run while you can!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 1, 2013

I am sorry but every time I look up at their sign heralding 30 years in the Eaton Centre I shake my head and run the other way. If apathetic service, bland food choices and a cafeteria feel is what you like, take the escalator ride upstairs and enjoy, otherwise, try the alternatives: Mercatto is open immediately below them on the street level of the Eaton Centre by Sears or Paramount is across the street. Sorry Greenjeans, but disappointment is what you have served up consistently. You have to do better, there are plenty of choices out there!

“an average restaurant”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 23, 2013

my fiends and i were there..it was a reunion after 4 years at lunch time. well the restaurant is clean and the staff is friendly. there is nothing special in the menue as this restaurant serves almost the same menue as other restaurants does. Food was good and it was served at an average time ( no delays). the waitress passed by frequently and always wanted to make sure that everything is ok.

“Slow start but things picked up with some surprises”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 20, 2013

The lifeblood of a restaurant is customers coming to it, so one would expect reservations to be considered extremely important when somebody calls in to make one.
Eleven of us travelled to downtown Toronto recently to enjoy a theatre show, do some shopping at the Eaton Centre and enjoy a dinner.
One of my sons made a reservation at Mr. Greenjeans for 6 p.m., on a Saturday.
We arrived five to 10 minutes early to find that even though my son had telephoned and made the reservation somebody had not marked it down and nobody knew anything about it.
But they would find us a table, they said and scurried away to do so while we waited.
This was not an good start for an evening dinner, in my view, and it suprised me because we have enjoyed excellent service at Mr. Greenjeans' dining room and also in the bar area on a number of previous occasions. Were they going downhill, we wondered.
They were not!
After about 15 minutes, were were taken to two tables upstairs, right next to a party of about 20 young people enjoying a dinner for a special event. They were not outright rowdy, but let's say they were enthusiastic and did not deter us from sitting where assigned.
Things started to pick up as our server, Ashley, did her job. We had six adults at one table and five children at an adjacent table. Our drink orders were taken, along with our dinner orders.
I had the Atlantic salmon and it was delicious. From calamari to hamburgers, from chicken with pasta to steak.....orders at our table arrived with a flourish from two other servers. The food was delicous.
At the kids' table all went like clockwork, from Ashley's patience as the youngsters ordered to the meals provided; which were devoured as kids turned away from colouring pictures and chattering.
Kids under 10 eat free, one per adult, on weekends and to take the sting out of the reservation mixup, I'm told that our one 13-year-old was not charged for her meal. Nice! Thanks!
Another pleasant surprise was when our server Ashley asked the parents if the children would be allowed to have more drinks; since drinks come with free refills. Smart lady that Ashley and she was discreet in asking. Nice! Thanks!
Things had picked up to the pleasureable at Mr. Greenjeans.
Then, yet another surprise and that came with a little birthday dessert for the 13-year-old. As a fuss was being made over her special celebration, a server called Matt arrived and sang to our granddaughter.
The surprise was that Matt had a voice that hinted to us that he sings in more places than just at a restaurant. This fellow had feeling, pitch and tone down to a science. Nice! Thanks Matt!
Mr. Greenjeans redeemed itself thanks to staff and we look forward to a repeat visit.
During the day-time, sitting close to the windows in the main dining area lends some additional charm to the event.
Nice!

“Bar Area”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 19, 2013

Spent an hour or so having a glass of wine and some appetizers at Mr Greenjeans- in the Bar area. Good atmosphere and I was happy to see that it had been renovated and changed to something less "neon" as it used to be.

Good experience- didn't try much of the food but the service was good and the wine was lovely!
