“Great food with lots of variety”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 15, 2013

This restaurant has something for everyone. Think middle eastern tapas. The green beans and sweet potato fries are worth a double order. The lemonade is excellent. Lunch is great.

“Super value and inexpensive”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 24, 2013

Have visited this restaurant multiple times. It is quite often my choice when others are treating me to dinner for birthday, Father's day etc. When you arrive you are handed a piece of paper and pencil to write down your chosen selection. For our table of four, it is suggested that you choose about 20 items. The style is tapas so the portions are not gigantic. However, they are generous.

The items arrive at your table as soon as they have been prepared. It seems that there is always a steady stream of delicious foods arriving and always something to look forward to. I love the lamb kebabs and the shrimp, the humus is creamy and subtle flavoured. There is even a spicy carrot item that despite the ordinariness of the ingredient is well worth being included in your list of selections. For the same reason I always order the sweet potato fries. I love the "Red Goat" - creamy sheep feta, tomato, sliced red onion with Kalamata olives. There is an item called Chicken Cigars. This is liver paté in phyllo, deep-fried and dressed with a tahini sauce.

Quite often there is a jazz night as there is room for a small ensemble. For this there is a small cover charge on such evenings. Some really great names are listed on the program. On our last visit we were there before the entertainment began. However, we note that Bill McBirnie is performing later this week. He is a superb jazz flutist and an icon in the jazz world. This is a bargain for the extra $10.00 cover charge.

Our bill for the four of us was $64.00. I love coming here.

“Fun concept, but food is bland.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 27, 2013

We decided to try this place with friends since the restaurant was in the Entertainment Book and the reviews seemed positive. The coupon entitled us to a percentage off the bill.

For four people, their menu "recommends" 20-items for $64. Otherwise, each small tapas dish is $3.50.

When we gave them the coupon from the Entertainment Book, they did not honour the discount on the $64 price quoted on their menu, but charged us the full price of $3.50 for each dish (totaling $70) and deducted the coupon off of that amount instead. It's not a huge difference, but it was the principal of the thing, and we stated to the waitresses that the promotion is misleading.

Regardless, some of the food we had was pretty good, but most of the dishes looked better than they tasted. Many did not have much taste at all and were quite bland.

Although we had a fun evening, with all the great restaurants in this city, we will not be going back to Mezzetta, coupon or not.

“Great, very reasonably priced food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 19, 2013

This restaurant serves Middle Eastern appetizers sized mezzes (tapas). They recommend ordering 10 dishes for two people, priced at $32.00. They have a large selection of salads, dips, vegetarian, and meat dishes to choose from. We especially enjoyed the Sultan’s Stew, the Green Beans, the creamed cauliflower, and the chicken and lamb shish kebobs. The desserts, Baklava and apricots in cream, as well as the Turkish coffee were quite good. The service was pleasant. We were quite happy that they spaced the arrival of the different dishes so we were able to enjoy 2 or 3 dishes at a time.
