“Elegant Chinese food”
Reviewed February 5, 2013

This is a must for authentic Chinese foodies. I had the most delicious lobster Singapore curry. The dim sum is scrumptious and a very nice waiter, that was most patient with our party. Please visit.

“Best Dim Sum hands down”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

This is an incrediblly different dim sum experience than you're probably used to. Situated in a hotel in downtown Toronto, Lai Wah Heen offers exquisitely prepared dim sum that is superior in quality to most places. Ambience is quiet, serene and on the elegant side. Dress up.

“Everything is right, but can't call it the best in Toronto”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

Food is OK, great setting, and condescending service. That sums up this supposedly best-in-class Chinese restaurant in Toronto. Price is overall OK for what you get.

Went for a dim sum lunch. Can clearly see that you would be treated as a nobody if you were not a regular, which is fine by me. Pleasantly surprised by the congee and the freshly-prepared dough stick - you don't have many of those made to order these days. However I must say that I was surprised to learn that dim sum prices are indicated PER PIECE. Even sushis come in pairs!

Need to note though that it failed the benchmark dim sum - shrimp dumpling. Shrimps not exactly fresh, and the skin is far too thick.

“You Won't Get What You Paid For”
Reviewed December 30, 2012

We ordered take out from this place a couple of times. The food is pretty tasty compared to other take out but that's about where the experience ends. To begin with the portions have always been on the small side. This would be okay however, each time we ordered the portions just got smaller and smaller. We ordered today and finally decided to complain. When we called the only explanation we got was that the containers got larger. This is ludicrous since the containers are the exact same ones as they had been using the previous times we ordered. At 90$ for take out, they made zero effort to correct the situation and flat out lied. This is unacceptable and we won't be ordering from here again nor going to dine at the actual restaurant. We've had other amazing high end Chinese food and would recommend Princess on Bay and St.Joseph or Dynasty in Yorkville over this place, both have nicer service service and you don't leave hungry.
With that price tag for an order for just two people the portions don't justify the costs and the poor service is unacceptable. For $90 of take out, I expect to be moderately full not hungry.

“Excellent, but pricey. Well worth it for special occasions.”
Reviewed December 29, 2012

We're always very pleased with Lai Wah Heen. The food is excellent and the service fantastic. Its a little pricey but well worth it for special occasions. The peking duck is the best in Toronto.
