“A fine meal with nice atmosphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 11, 2012

We had a fine meal here, more on the nouvelle Italian than the traditional Italian side. Roasted pumpkin soup was thick and delicious, and two seafood dishes hit the spot -- the grilled European sea bass and wild haddock filet. Photos of the food can be found here: http://paulalanlevy.blogspot.com/2012/10/a-full-saturday-in-toronto-touring-and.html

“Lovely atmosphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 10, 2012

There was a street festival going on when we were there, which from our point of view, was a bit of a shame because the loud music took away from our quiet, romantic dinner. That was not a reflection on the restaurant though.

I had the sweet potato gnocchi which didn't end up having much flavour. My partner had the manicotti and we both though it was very tasty. The rosemary bread is delicious. We also shared the honey creme brulee, which was very good (I love creme brulee), but I couldn't detect the honey.

Had it not been for the loud music outside, I would say the atmosphere is fabulous. Even though we had a table of four seated right next to us, we were completely unaware of them and the decor is very condisive to a relaxing meal. The service was very good. We never had to wait, our water glasses were topped up regularly and they were quick to clear up plates.

“Delightful gem in mid-Toronto”

Beautifully presented, delicious food. Pleasant, muted decor. Excellent service. Wish I'd been hungrier, and would definitely return another time.

“Good food, really slow service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 16, 2012

My husband and I came here on a Wednesday night. We were in Toronto on vacation and decided to come to La Forchetta based on reviews we found online.

The restaurant itself is very cute and has a good atmosphere. You can reach it easily by the 506 trolley).

The menu had a good variety of choices, plus a customizable prix-fixe menu (2 or 3 courses). My husband enjoyed his food from the prix-fixe menu, I ordered a la carte.

The food was really good, including the rosemary bread that was served at the table, and the wine was nice.

My biggest complaint for this restaurant is the SLOW service. There were probably 8 tables that were occupied when we were dining, each table had a party of 4 or smaller. It looked like there was just the manager and one server. It took forever to get our salads, forever to get our entrees and just as long to get our check and pay for the meal.

While we enjoyed the food, I can't say we enjoyed our experience here. I'm all for having a slow-paced meal, but this was excessively slow and detracted from the enjoyment of our food.

We walked by some other restaurants on our way back to our hotel which looked more fairly priced and had more servers, and regretted eating at La Forchetta.

“Intimate ambiance, slow service, good food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 14, 2012

Very intimate, charming ambiance with a sidealk patio overlooking the energy of Little Italy. Food was very good but service was so slow. It was basically the manager and one server. Is this normal or were they short staffed? 2 people can't deliver prompt service no matter how sweet the server is. Great portions, reasonable priced list but strange that they didnt have any prosecco by the glass and offered Freixnet!!! Yikes! Too many other great restaurants in this city....
