Description: Housed in a historical building, Bangkok Garden introduced Thai cuisine and culture to Toronto over 30 years ago and is one of only four Thai restaurants in Toronto to be awarded the Thai Select Premium designation from the Thai Consulate - recognizing the authenticity of the food and outstanding service. Acclaimed as one of North America's premier Thai restaurants, Bangkok Garden serves authentic Thai food based on the Thai principle of balancing the five tastes. In addition, our cuisine caters to many dietary restrictions. From spiced stir- fries, to fresh rolls and curries, there are several gluten free, vegan and vegetarian options to suit all. Our bar lounge offers exotic cocktails, martinis, wine and a large selection of international beers. Open for à la carte and buffet lunch Monday to Friday, and dinner Monday to Sunday. Reservations recommended. Private and semi-private group dining available.

Here we let the waiter select a variety of dishes for us to try.
Once he knew what we did not want he went away to get the order.

Maybe this was an expensive way to go but we really enjoyed the selections.

If there is one place in Toronto that makes me forget that I am in North America, this is it. I step right into Thailand and smell the amazing flavours of south Asia. It is almost a meditation experience. Everything is in sync, colours, frangrances, flavours, music, atmosphere. This is one place no one should miss!

We hadn't eaten at Bangkok Gardens in a few years, but decided to give it a try. Compared with the other Thai restaurants in the area it really doesn't have the punch any more. The décor is still pleasant, but the menu is a bit sparse on fish and the vegetarian options aren't that appealing. BUT... We tried 2 fish dishes, Anna's pick and the fish in Banana leaves. Anna's pick was good at first, nice large serving of fish but the sauce became rather cloying as you ate. The fish steamed in banana leaves was tasty and the dipping sauce delicious.
The Friday "signature" drink was a Caesar with a Chili sauce that so overwhelmed the flavour it was barely drinkable. Skip that one.
The service was quite good but somehow we didn't feel welcomed.

I've only been to their lunch buffets. Good variety of Thai food, for vegetarians and meat-eaters alike. Maybe not the most authentic Thai I've tasted, but it is the best value in Toronto for quanity and quality. Only available from Monday-Friday for $15.95. Service is great with a smile and prompt attention. Our server fills up our water without us even asking for it! That always is worth marks. Just gave an average rating because I feel like there could be more dessert options (ICE CREAM IS NEEDED WITH MY BANANA...). Washrooms are clean and beautiful because they share it with the spa next door!

There are so many options for Thai food in Toronto, Bangkok Gardens cannot afford to rest on its laurels and reputation of the paste. Food is average at best, over priced and service declines if you do not order alcohol. Really? This shouldn't be in this day and age.
