Nathan Isenberg went down market when he opened up his own place. Don't judge this book by its cover. Nathan is a very accomplished chef and can make one swoon with his offerings. He's a master at teasing out flavours out of interesting local produce along with adventurous global flavours. For example, the huitlacoche soup is lick-the-bowl delicious. The patty pan squash are flavourful eye candy. Go with the tasting menu. He'll just serve up everything he is cooking that evening.

The Atlantic is located in the west end of Toronto (near Dundas and Dufferin) and is mostly frequented by locals. This is NOT a fast food place, nor is it very cheap, but they have an excellent, ever changing and very imaginative tapas menu, and a friendly, relaxed vibe. This small restaurant is the antithesis of any of the chain restaurants, and dinner takes a while, as it comes fresh cooked, dish by dish. Perfect spot for a relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable food experience. They also boast a fairly short but good wine selection, and I've never had a fish or seafood selection I didn't love. In fact, I've hardly ever had anything there I didn't enjoy.
For the best experience, go with the house recommendations...they won't steer you wrong.

It's homey and unpretentious, but that just highlights the qualities of the meal. Don't go if you're really hungry - perfection takes a while. Go before you're starving and enjoy the wait.

Atlantic is a tapas-style restaurant that offers many distinctive dishes on a changing menu. The kitchen takes some time to prepare many of the dishes but they're worth the wait. Go with good company and order some of the stuff you've never heard of. Like with many other tapas restaurants in the city you'll have to be prepared to spend more, but the overall quality of the food and service was excellent. The cozy ambiance was great for a cold night. Strongly recommended if you're just a tad adventurous with food.

Our table's order included the following from one of the October menus:
- Macedonian feta, jerk olives and toasts
- Autumn salad
- Gnudi, cavalo nero, walnuts, parmesan
- Black rice n peas with callalo
- Grilled quail
- Grilled rapini, fregola pasta, Gruyere, salsa verde
- Khyber Pass blend tobacco brûlée

The feta, olives and toasts starter was a bit excessive on the serving of olives which I thought were too salty, but the cheese worked well with the dense toasts. The autumn salad was perfect and the gnudi was doughy cheesy goodness. Just about everything was delicious and I will definitely revisit this restaurant.
