“Not recommended!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 12, 2013 via mobile

I was put off by the fishy smell and the ugly bar at the entrance, but it was already too late and too cold to look up for another place. I wish we had known the way better Quinn's just across the street soon enough.

Anyway we ordered the lobster thermidor and the seafood bouillabasse. Two classics that came out as sad microwave heated food, and in the first case not even well enough.

The lobster was mushy and we couldn't even have much of it. It was left almost untouched. The bouillabaisse was ok, but just if if we had expected a tomato and cream soup out of the can with bits of undecipherable seafood added to it.

The service was good but not enough to make up for the poor food and decaying looks of the place. And definitely it is very pricey for what is served there.

At this wharf the only catch of the day is the unaware customer!

“Poor service”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 17, 2013

It's almost funny. All these "bad" reviews sums up my experience as well.

Service: Pushy server, felt as though he didn't want us there, auto grat was added..for some reason. The manager or owner, I'm not sure what her title was was openly fighting with a server. I feel like she could of been a little more professional than that.
Food: Not great. Over priced. Hot, Stale bread was given.
Atomsphere: Small, candle lit, I agree with others... there was a weird smell in there. It was an uncomfortable experience to say the least with the pushy service, auto grat and professional manager.

Overall, it wasn't good, I would Not recommend it and I will never go back there.

“Very overpriced”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 13, 2013 via mobile

The dining room is charming and romantic. The drinks were fine - Carmel martini followed by white wine. The.bread was not very warm and slightly dry. Our appetizers were just ok. The lobster bisque was truly just tomato soup with a few pieces of lobster in it. We couldn't get past the overwhelming tomato flavor. The scallop margharitta had a good flavor with pieces on mango bit the scallops were very small and not real flavorful. The special was a combo of shellfish for two. Almost all of it was overcooked and on the dry side - even with drawn butter. The price of the special was not listed and I should have asked. Way too expensive for what was served.

“Good food but Expense Account Prices”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 7, 2013

I think they trade on the name. We've eaten in the "real" SF Fisherman's Wharf for a lot less money than here.
The food was really good, but they certainly know how to charge for it (particularly the wine - $45 plus tax and upwards).
Only go if you have deep pockets, or an understanding employer.
