It started with a warm welcome and continued through advice on a lovely Tempranillo available by the 1/2 litre. Yes, you pay for the amazing corn bread but it is served with a fresh spicy dipping oil . I could not resist ordering the old favourite; chicken anticucho (skewered) with garlic rice and a fresh and interesting salad. My partner chose a special of grilled flank steak, sautéed with onions and peppers. Garlic rice and Yukon Gold fries finished what he said was a delicious, perfectly cooked winter dish.

The food was excellent, but expensive. (Price with tax and tip, without alcohol, with a main course and either an appetizer or dessert, came to $50 per person.) Each member of our group ordered something different from the specials menu, and everyone was pleased. We were seated upstairs, tucked into a corner, which was a good choice; away from the main entrance, no noise, and a plain, homey atmosphere. We would certainly recommend this restaurant to others.

I took two guests from the US who are experts in the Andean area of South America, and I have to say they did Toronto and the great food tradition of the Andes proud.
Almost all of us had the feature dish, the Humita, wrapped in corn leaves, with a little hot sauce to add some kick. We couldn't believe how good it was.
Then the server forced us to eat sour cream apple pie fresh from the oven.
The service was friendly and informed, and she is justifiably proud of the great food achievements of the Andes, one of the centres of origin of global agriculture and a cuisine that enjoys international respect.

No matter what you choose on the menu, you're going to enjoy the results. We've never been disappointed with the appetizers and mains. When making reservations, request the outdoor patio (unless it's winter, of course!). There's a great buzz in the setting, and wonderful conversations to join. All around, a dependable and delicious dine.

The best thing about this place is its incredible patio. On even the hottest day, it offers a lovely respite from which you can watch life on Harbord Street stroll by. The staff won't bother you a bit if sit with a coffee and a book for hours on end. Well, maybe they'll move you along before dinner, as it's a pretty popular place.

The food is very, very good. The creole salad is fresh and delicious. The calamari is served on an enormous salad as well. Huevos rancheros are lovely and you certainly won't leave hungry. For a lighter meal, try the avocado stuffed with shrimp.

Staff are friendly but on our visit, the service was slow and the staff were hard to find. We waited a long time to place the order and a really long time to receive the food. We were one of maybe eight tables on a Saturday at lunch so not sure what the problem was.

This would be a fun place with a group as well. Lots of room and a great neighbourhood.
