I usually don't write reviews but i was quite impressed by my stay here that is why i decided to spread the word. Stayed at Planet Traveler in Toronto for 4 days while waiting for visa processing at the US embassy and it was definitely remarkable. The first thing you will probably notice is how welcoming the staff are and then next to that is the overall neatness. The ambience is pretty good and there is a good mix of people from different parts of the world. The environment is pretty safe and the convenient store (sams) to make small purchases is right around the corner. There is a variety of places to eat not too far from the hostel so am sure you would be able to get something to eat not matter your eating preference. The breakfast is pretty repetitive but then again its free from 7am-1pm so its still a bonus. Internet isn't as fast in the bedroom if you are connecting using your laptop but its pretty fast in the common area downstairs in the lobby. The Owner, Anthony, is a cool dude and if you need any advise on fun things or places to go, he is usually around the lobby area to ask. Stayed for 4 nights and it was a very comfortable stay...kudos!!!

I've been back to the Planet 5 times since July. The staff here have become great friends and walking through the front door is almost like coming home.

I honestly don't know how they could do more for travelers than they do at the Planet. I often see the owner sitting down with guests, telling them about great places to visit, detailing their options for getting there and generally helping to make their trip to Toronto the best it can be. He loves to travel too and is obviously proud of his city and it really shows.

This past summer & fall we had great BBQ's on the rooftop terrace (FREE - courtesy of the owner) and now that it's colder there is a pasta dinner every Saturday night. For breakfast (which by the way is served until 1pm!) there is always a large selection of breads, bagel, peanut butter & jams, at least 10 kinds of cereal and plenty of bananas. Want more...how about free coffee/tea/milk all day long, free rice to cook for dinner and a drawer full of free popcorn for snacks.

The facilities continue to be top notch and incredibly clean. When I returned this time there were dry wall patches waiting to be painted at the front entrance. The scratches being covered up would have been barely noticeable to anyone else, but Anthony simply won't let anything slip. They want to be one of the top 10 hostels in the world and I have no doubt they should be.

The Planet Traveler is by far the nicest, best run hostel I've ever stayed at anywhere in the world.

I stayed at this hostel for two evenings this past week. I was in the area for a work conference, so I thought, why not check out Toronto?

I really loved Alejandra, one of the receptionists, who helped me out immediately upon my arrival. She starts with a tour of the hostel's supremely clean facilities, then she gave me the low-down on where I need to go, on an easy-to-read map. Left my guidebook in the hostel dorm since Alejandra had shown me all the cool spots.

I love the location of the hostel too, right near cute and funky bars, cafes, and shops. Very central.

The rooms are super clean, with modern design, clean sheets/towels, and a beautiful bathroom/shower INSIDE each room. Seriously, what else could you ask for?!

I met super cool people at the hostel, from Belgium all the way to Erie, Pennsylvania!

The hostel owner, Anthony, is great too. He really loves what he does and put all his blood, sweat, and tears into making this hostel the best experience for travelers possible.

I love that there are no annoying signs, and the Sat night FREE pasta dinner, as well as the FREE breakfasts, popcorn, and coffee/tea are a HUGE perk! I love the MAC computers that are available and free to use as well.

I've been traveling and staying at hostels for almost a decade, throughout Asia, Europe, and Latin America, and I have to say this hostel is one of, if not the best, experience that I've had so far. You must come here! I promise you won't be disappointed!

The Planet Traveler's Hostel is a fantastic hostel & would definitely stay there again with out any doubt, It was my first time travelling solo & i had booked into a 6 bed female dorm. On arrival at the hostel i was greeted by such friendly staff, very upbeat & extremely helpful. The hostel is very modern & extremely clean & there's just a good buzz about the place. You will not regret staying here - it made my experience travelling solo alot less daunting, i met alot of similar people & it was great way to meet people socially.

As part of your stay every morning there is free breakfast, cereal, bagels & banana's, also there is free computer access & wifi and also they have 3 phone booth that you can make free local calls. It has a roof top bar which has a pretty impressive view of CN Tower, especially at night when it's light up.

My overall experience of traveler planet was a fantastic & would highly recommend staying.

Room Tip: If your planning to stay in Toronto for a few days, its worth buying the weekly TTC pass or Daily Pa...

I stayed at female 6 bed dorm for 3 nights.
It is very clean, staff friendly and has warm atmosphere.
I enjoyed my stay there.
They provide a nice warm duvet which kept me very warm in cold, rainy days.
but they don't replace towels everyday.
There is no cleaning lady who cleanses the rooms everyday.
I actually don't know who dumps the garbages.

*Facility is clean and friendly.
*Washing machines and dryers are new.
*Free Internet
*Breakfast- milk, many types of cereal, and bananas. that's it.
*End of your stay when you're checking out at the counter, you have to give them the duvet cover, pillow cover and towels.
*Location wise, not too great. It is ok if you don't mind walking a bit.
A bit of walk from streetcar (5 to 7 minutes walk), pretty far from subway.
Note: For those who don't know what a streetcar is, it is worth to check out what they are and where they operate on.
It is simply a bus that operates on a rail. Only the street that has rail, streetcar may operate.
The hostel gives you a map of downtown and it indicates where streetcar operates.

just a side note, i liked how they have phone booths where you can have some privacy while talking to someone on the phone.

I was very pleased with Planet Traveler. The room was clean, and most importantly the bathroom as well. I liked the fact that there was a total of only 6 people in the room meaning there was never a wait for the bathroom. Breakfast was great with cereal and bananas. The location is excellent - near Kensington Mkt. which is an eclectic neighborhood, and close to Chinatown, Yorkville, Cabbagetown, Downtown, lakefront, etc. In fact, I walked to all these places. I only took public transportation to the airport which worked out well - only an hour to the airport with no rush. My only concern would be for those arriving after midnight - the hostel reception is closed so not sure what would happen if one arrived late. I came just after 11 pm not realizing I was cutting it very close. One final nice feature worth mentioning - the lockers are in a separate room so you do not disturb those sleeping if you come in late and need to go through your luggage. Highly recommended.

I stayed at the Planet Traveler for about 5 weeks whilst looking for permanent accommodation in Toronto and the place was amazing. I miss it so much.
Comfy beds, Free bagels and cereal for breakfast til 1pm, free popcorn and rice, free internet, free bbq on the rooftop on saturday nights.
the owner Anthony is lovely and will go out of his way to help you. The staff - Kiwi, Ljuba, Viktorija, Tegan, and the rest are awesome, friendly, helpful and fun.
I cant wait to come back and visit.
STAY HERE GUYS, you won't regret it.

Room Tip: all the rooms are good, the 6 bed dorms are a little roomier than the 5 bed dorms.
