“Really large room, very friendly staff”
Reviewed September 28, 2011

The room is really large, with a separate sitting area and a kitchen.
There is complimentary breakfast (and there is plenty of choice).
At evening there is also complimentary light dinner.
First time experience like this for us. We felt really welcome.

My husband stayed at this hotel on vacation in Toronto. The staff is very nice and friendly. They go the extra mile. The breakfasts in the morning were outstanding. The valet parking was expensive (35/night) so do without a car if you can. The subway system is very good, and we felt safe using it and walking at night. Our queen size suite was perfect for the two of us. The bed was super comfortable and we enjoyed our stay.

Just finished a 2 weeks stay at this hotel. I chose it based on other people's review. Hotel is very clean and staff are friendly and helpful. Location is excellent if you want to be near the lake. Free in-room internet was great except they do charge for local calls. The included breakfast was excellent, I'm not crazy about eggs but their scrambled eggs were delicious! Lots of other healthy choices if you don't like the greasy stuff. Their evening light meals (only twice/week) sometimes were more than "light" and they were not bad. The ony thing I don't like about the hotel are their doors, which tend to slam really loud. Not an enjoyable thing for light sleepers like myself. Their in-room internet was also down one day during my stay and caused a bit of inconveniences. Otherwise, I had a wonderful stay and will definitely recommend this hotel to others.

We spent five consecutive nights here in early September 2011. We had spent nearly a fortnight here in Aug/September 2009 (when the hotel was about six months old) and this year's stay cemented the favourable impressions which we formed two years ago.

The hotel is ideally located; just off the tourist bus routes, an eight minute walk from the CN Tower and the Rogers stadium (Bluejays); 20-minute walk from shopping at The Bay, Yonge Street and the Eaton Centre (big retail mall in the middle of Toronto); 15 minute walk from the main train station. We drive enough in the UK, so we always aim to walk/bus/train/fly when we are overseas.

We took a suite on the 19th floor. Peaceful, spacious, comfortable, well-appointed. With the fridge/freezer, microwave and cooker, you could easily set up home here. The welcoming pack of microwave popcorn was a nice touch.

Excellent bathroom with a nice deep bath.
If you take a suite on the East side of the building, you look out on a huge electicity sub-station and, to the right, on a new construction site in line with your view to the bottom of the CN Tower (which is your navigation point ANYWHERE in the city). Big deal, we never heard a thing from these two sites!

Breakfast is served on the ground floor, adjacent to RECEPTION.
This is a city-centre hotel, and the value of land is reflected in the small-ish dining area. This dining area is adequate, but expect a five-minute wait for a table at peak times.

On the ground floor also is a small bar; this has a habit of closing before 9pm but this is solely dictated by the level of patronage; if the bar is busy, he'll stay open. If not - "use it or lose it".

The Reception staff were universally helpful, as were the door staff and the cleaning crews.

Negatives - there are only three lifts ("elevators" for the yanks in the Colonies!) and, EVEN WHEN ALL THREE LIFTS ARE WORKING, there can be queues for the lifts. This shows up the Achilles heel of this hotel - the reception area is long and narrow, from the entrance to past the lifts. When were there, the middle lift got stuck on, I think, the 4th floor on at least two occasions. Memo to Mr Marriott - next time, this size of hotel needs four lifts and a squarer reception area!

This was our second trip to the Marriott Residence Inns Toronto Downtown Entertainment District - or "255 Wellington Street West " for short.

Travelling back to the Airpor? for two of you, let the hotel book a taxi - a Limo rolled up, and cost us CDN55 for the trip back to Pearson; less than the CDN39/head cost of the Airporter service.

We'll be back!
Mike

Great location if you want to visit the CN Tower or attend an event at Rogers Center (both are a 5 minute walk away). The main shopping street, Yonge Street, is a longer walk, but still doable. As usual in Residence Inns, we had a very spacious room with a small kitchen. The propert seems to be a bit old, so decor and style are not really up to date; however, good service makes up for this. Especially front desk staff is helpful, and provides plenty of good sightseeing advice. Valet parking (with in-out-privileges) is 32 Dollars per day, which is slightly more expensive that public garages, but still acceptable for downtown Toronto. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay there.

Good location. The room is big and the breakfast is good. Only drawback is they should upload the laundry soap vendor machine. They have 3 laundry room on 9/F, 10F, & 17/F. I put the money in but there was no stock in the machine. Then I ran to another floor, same thing. I didn't ask the money back but finally I got it on the 17/F.

This is one of several hotels that I have stayed at on visits to Toronto. It was not the most extravagant, but it was great for my extended stays of up to a week or two, and the added dimension of a great location at a great price gave it the edge over the others. I initially stayed here only because I travelled to Toronto for work, and my company had a discounted rate agreement. However, on my first visit, it became an instant hit. The hotel has a very modern feel, and the first time I stayed here was shortly after some kind of construction/renovation. However, the convenience of the kitchen on extended stays was great, and the breakfast was actually pretty good, with a decent selection of alternatives. Addditionally, the proximity to King Street (along with all of its entertainment and restaurant options), the Financial District, the sports arenas, and the harbourfront was exceptional. I have since stayed at this hotel for pleasure and it remains my hotel of choice when in Toronto.
