I come to this theatre regularly as I have a ballet subscription. My recent visit was to see The Nutcracker.

Location: Public transportation - very convenient and has direct access to the subway. Very convenient on winter time.

Accoustics: Exceptional

Staff: Very helpful. I like to pre-order my beverages or ice cream. Special treat I look forward to during intermission

The theatre was lovely, accoustics were fantastic. Easy to move through the theatre to find seats and staff was very helpful.

How does an opera house in the new world compete with Europe for beauty?

It doesn't.

But they have made an excellent facility of local woods contrasted with chrome and class, with a beautiful open concept. Seating is comfortable and accoustics are superb.

Perfect setting for the ballet. Bright and clean. Great accoustics. The only problem is that there are STILL too few washrooms for women....lined up outside the door. When will event designers learn that women need more stalls?

My wife and I have had a COC subscription for many years, and we still thank our lucky stars that Richard Bradshaw managed to secure a real opera house for the city. The O'Keefe/Hummingbird was a poor second-best. I was in the hall when they were fine-tuning the acoustics, and have been more than pleased with them ever since. The seats are comfortable and the sight lines from the third level are excellent. A haven for opera lovers!
