Owner description: Founded in 1922, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra is one of Canada’s leading cultural institutions. Today, more than 225,000 patrons and over 50,000 students visit the Orchestra at Roy Thomson Hall each year, and an additional five million Canadians tune in to concert broadcasts on CBC Radio. Under the leadership of Music Director Peter Oundjian, the Orchestra has increased recording and touring projects to include a self-produced record label, and performances throughout the US and Canada. The Orchestra continues to develop its international presence by being an active commissioning body for new Canadian and international works, as well as attracting distinguished guest artists and conductors to performances at Roy Thomson Hall.

The orchestra and choir were excellent. The hall is ugly, confusing for finding seats, and there were few water fountains because one or two were not working. Two ushers were rude because apparently if you work near greatness, you are great as well.

If you like classical music, make time to visit one of the MANY great performances. I really loved the team-up show with the Barenaked Ladies band. I am also going to the James Bond theme song evening.

during the first hour of Handel's "Messiah." I'm glad I wasn't snoring. =P. and I'm glad I stayed for the next Part 2 / 3 which was just awesome. Great people, great music, and wonderful architecture. I stayed on Main (bottom floor) row G , so pretty much 8 rows removed from being front and center. in hindsight, i think staying ona front row balcony would be cool too.

Toronto is lucky to have world class musicians performing for them on a regular basis. Their shows are wonderfully done and their guests are usually exquisite.

We have been subscribing to the TSO for three years and have truly been blessed that it is part of our Toronto experience. The acoustics at Roy Thompson Hall are superb and the air feels so alive with the music.
