Owner description: Founded in 1922, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra is one of Canada’s leading cultural institutions. Today, more than 225,000 patrons and over 50,000 students visit the Orchestra at Roy Thomson Hall each year, and an additional five million Canadians tune in to concert broadcasts on CBC Radio. Under the leadership of Music Director Peter Oundjian, the Orchestra has increased recording and touring projects to include a self-produced record label, and performances throughout the US and Canada. The Orchestra continues to develop its international presence by being an active commissioning body for new Canadian and international works, as well as attracting distinguished guest artists and conductors to performances at Roy Thomson Hall.

2012-13 promises to be an outstanding season. Maestro Peter Oundjian brings such a wonderful spirit to the orchestra.

We love the arts, and after our first visit to watch the TSO and performing guests, try to come back when we can. The last one was when Lang Lang came- absolutely inspiring for our teen who is preparing for her second to last RCM exam in piano. The hall is wonderful, seats are comfortable, acoustics great, and most angles you can see the stage. I recommend front left orchestra if it is piano concerto that you are seeing- watching his hands fly over the keyboard was breath taking. It is central to the entertainment district, so plenty of places to eat before a concert. The TSO just gets better every year, and offers affordable seat at last minute deals and special seats for young people 30 and under. If you are a visitor, or even a local, try to come out and enjoy one of their brilliant concerts.

It's always a treat to see the TSO in action. The musicians and supporting
performers were worth every penny. The antics of Luba Goy as
the British Queen and the comical interjections of the Conductor and
choirs were an added bonus. Music and laughter all in one package.
One suggestion, rethink the crowd control during intermission and after
performances. What a mess. Theatre mgt must have their own washriooms.

I love seeing a TSO show when I can make it to town. I don't think there is a bad seat in Roy Thompson hall, every you sit, it sounds amazing!

Roy Thompson Hall is a "love it" or "hate it" type of venue - some call it stark, others call it great engineering - but it is the TSO that makes the hall come alive.
Led by a stunning string section - the music that emanates from this orchestra is wonderful.
As far as I am concerned, the TSO just keeps getting better and better. Looking forward to more recordings so I can listen to more when I am away form Canada.
