Thomson park is huge, and it's fairly clear of crowds most of the time which makes it an ideal place to relax alone or with family.

Great for outdoor strolls (well maintained) with lots of places to "get away". Lots of variety in the bike trails as well.

2 Leash free dog parks ..tremendous!!!! meet lots of dog owners & exchange ideas on raising FIDO!!! ha! ha! A few lovely walking trails ..can catch a baseball or soccer game as well as,bring your picnic lunch. eautiful for walkin in this Autumn weather!! A great local facility ...so natural.
Also a historical home on site for touring with volunteer commentators .. Also used by various Scarborough schools for the students to learn the history of early families settling in Scarborough.

On holiday here from Uk and visiting relatives close by we saw the Ribfest advertised on the park so thought it was worth a visit. As it was early on day 2 of the 4 day fest and not too crowded we called into the small Museum also on the park site. What makes this an attraction is the very friendly, knowledgeable and 'couldn't be more helpful' staff.
The Ribfest itself is exactly as it says on the tin ! a festival of RIBS with a plethora of huge stands openly grilling (mainly) ribs but also other meats. Each vying to win the best rib/ best sauce etc prize. All jolly fun and also yummy. There are plenty of other food outlets mostly of a healthy nature such as real lemonade, a funfair and craft type stalls and various music makers throughout the days. Parking and entrance were free (make a donation only) which was quite unusual. A really nice event for us visitors to enjoy with local people.
