We went to the Tori Amos show "Unrepentent Geraldines" in this wonderful old concert hall. She puts on an amazing athletic (playing 2 instruments simultaneously while straddling the piano bench and singing) show, and is an exceptionally talented musician and singer. Her actual performance lasted a solid two hours, after an hour of the warm up group and a break.

My wife and I loved the Massey Hall venue and recommend any Toronto visitor to check out its schedule for concerts of interest.

Sat in the 3rd row balcony. Turn of the century wooden seats. Very little legroom and after a few hours it became VERY uncomfortable to sit through a performance I paid $90+/ticket for. Very pretty location, however.

I found the acoustics to be less than stellar, although I may blame this on Tori's audio crew.

Great theatre, great sound. I've seen many bands over the years and Massey Hall is a wonderful old venue, located downtown across from the Eaton Centre. Lots of restaurants nearby and parking in the church parking lot is reasonable (Jarvis & Shuter). Best price would be take the subway to Queen station or get off at Dundas and walk down from Dundas Square. Don't cheap out on your seats! The uppermost balcony has seats fit for children only. Anyone bigger than a ten year old will be hugging their knees and have a numb derriere. Other than that, there isn't a bad seat in the house.

Saw the Great Lake Swimmers Tuesday the 8th, last minute decision meant the seats were waaaaay up in the right gallery, not the greatest view, but we were allowed to upgrade our seats and really enjoyed the show. The staff here are very accommodating and they also are polite even when enforcing rules e.g. the band was filming a video and they requested no cell phone/video be taken during the performance, the people sitting near us who chose not to respect the bands' request were very politely asked to put their cell phones away - the staff had to lean over me to get their attention and the staff (male) was not rude or aggressive, just very matter of fact and polite. It was a very pleasant evening after that.

The venue is like a place of worship when your butt is cramped into those small wooden seats you still can't help and smile and think of all the people that have sat there before you to enjoy the show!
