Owner description: The Distillery District is an internationally acclaimed village of brick-lined streets and dozens of vibrantly restored Victorian Industrial buildings. It’s one of Ontario’s hottest tourist attractions and home to live theatres, galleries, fashion, design and jewelry boutiques, unique cafes and award-winning restaurants. It’s all completely closed to traffic and just a few minutes walk from downtown Toronto.

“bought some great art here”
Reviewed May 21, 2012

I love what the developers have done with this location= how they have retained the original buildings, cobblestone paths and roads and the excellent art galleries, restaurants and speciality shops, like the chocolate shop - Soma. Anytime of year, a place to stroll and experience

“Pleasant to hang out with friends”
Reviewed May 20, 2012

This seems more like a place to hang out with friends for some drinks or a meal, not a tourist area. Some of the old distillery equipment is on display, and the big sculptures are worth looking at, but otherwise this is not really a tourist spot. If you want to go to one of the better bars or restaurants, there will be a line (assuming the weather is good). You won't get a particularly good education of the distillery process, the way you will if you go to certain places in Brussels. You won't see any old-fashioned distilling going on. Come here if you want to spend the afternoon or evening hanging out with friends; if you're a tourist with just a few days in Toronto, you won't miss anything by skipping this area.

“the only part with some history...”
Reviewed May 18, 2012

...that's still left. Most history (if there ever was one) is no gone. Boring buildings, but if you are here anyhow, might as well

“we didn't find alot to do here at all”
Reviewed May 17, 2012

maybe we came too early in the day(11am on a Saturday), but we didn't find too many things to do. It appears that the restaurants and bars dont' really open until the evening hours; stores are few; so really, I wouldn't recommend a visit unless you are in the area...

“Best area for mementos”
Reviewed May 17, 2012

Lots of really nice shops, galleries, cafes, bars, etc, all of which are independent. No Starbucks here, just really good coffee. Most of the artists/owners are there and are pleased to talk to you about their work.
