“Best fish tacos in Toronto”
Reviewed May 22, 2014

Literally took a day off work to try Seven Lives - it's always packed even on a weekday. If you want to sit down and enjoy a meal don't go here. If you want to grab some amazing tacos and be on your way go here ASAP.

The fish tacos are easily the best I've had in Toronto. Baja and blackened mahi mahi were amazing. Super generous portions of fish and creative toppings varying from taco to taco. Can't wait to go back.

“Explosive (in a good way)”
Reviewed May 5, 2014 via mobile

This is one of the best places to eat in Toronto, bar none. Flavours are the gustatory equivalent of sticking your finger in an electric socket--unbelievably intense and not for the faint of heart. While fish is the specialty, the carnitas taco is excellent, and easily beats offerings at more meat-focused Mexican joints. The signature Gobernador (smoked marlin) taco is unique, and a must-try. The tacos are huge--so huge they need two tortillas each to hold the masses of fillings--and two tacos is plenty for one person. Three is really pushing it, not that it stopped me. Homemade salsas are delicious. Sole drawback is limited seating, so taking yours to Bellevue Square is probably best. GO!

“Blackened Mahi Mahi hits the spot”
Reviewed January 16, 2014

Finally returned to seven lives and it was as sublime as the first visit.
I opted for the absolutely delicious blackened Mahi Mahi.

Homemade drink combo of orange and lime is a terrific accompaniment and soother to their taco.

If only it was closer to home...

“These Tacos Rock! Pura Vida!”
Reviewed December 9, 2013

My wife and I stopped in to eat after hearing about this place. The space is small in size and it is easy to just walk on by. But the quality and service is super. I would not consider the tacos a meal, they come as single orders and you would need a couple to fill up. However, if you want something to hold you over till later, then by all means, try one. They are about 5 bucks each and come in a variety of flavor like grilled mahi, camerones de la diablo (spicey shrimp) and octopus with cactus, yes, that was correct. I had the mahi and my wife had the shrimp-both excellent choices. There literally is one table with four chairs and a ledge (bar) along one wall for several people. The wait is well worth the tasty snack so be prepared to patiently wait 15 minutes. Sip on a drink, mingle with very cool Canadians and enjoy the atmosphere. The guys working in the small kitchen bust their hump and help to make your experience well worth it. We visit Toronto twice each year and now we have a new tradition to add to our itinerary.

It is located at Kensington Market, same side as Kensington's coffee shop, just a few doors down. Look for the line at the door, it means that it is well worth the short wait.

“best tasting taco I EVER HAVE HAD.”
Reviewed December 1, 2013

Dropped in here on a cold November 29th, not expecting much.
Its smallish space with no restrooms. There is sit down for maybe 8, stools for a few more people.
But... when I got my blackened mahi taco i could not have been more impressed.
The taste was 10/10, the tortilla was wonderfully aromatic and tasty, the mahi very blacked yet not over cooked, the guacamole was very good.
I picked the least hot salsa choice not wanting to overwhelm my taste buds and mask a good tasting meal.
So a 10/10 , a few thoughts , the volume of the taco itself may be a bit small if your a big eater, but the taste made up for it. Also with that thought, many tacos elsewhere would probably hit you up a few more bucks per taco, around the 8-9 dollar range, so the price point I think is good especially considering the taste.
My friend had the snapper with panko crust , and he thought it was "good", but he had a cold so his "taster" was off, and I did not try not a sample , not wanting to catch my third cold this year ! LOL :)
