“NO gluten free beer, view OK, service not.”
Reviewed August 30, 2014 via mobile

We called in advance to find out if there were any gluten free beers, when we were told there were we decided to walk down there. But to our great surprise, after a 30 min line to sit outside, it appeared there were not any gluten free beers available at all! The waitress could not care less and did not even try to propose us anything else.
The view is OK but the service is not that good and the prices are a little bit overrated! I am sure there are way better places to have a drink in Toronto! The nice location is not all that counts.

“What a view!”
Reviewed August 30, 2014

After a harbour tour, this is a good restaurant to enjoy and amazing view, a good meal along with great selections of beers. After a slow start to know we were there, the staff were very attentive and helpful.

“Great spot to people watch”
Reviewed August 30, 2014

I've been going to the original Amsterdam brew pub for at least thirty years on my occasional visits to Toronto and always thought it was a great spot. Now that there is a location right on the lakefront it is an even better spot. Dropped in for some beer and appies before a Jays game and was quite impressed. Even though the place is huge we had a fifteen minute wait for an outside table, but it was worth it. The waterfront was packed we Jays and Yankee fans, attendees as a TransCon Comic Book convention who were bizarrely dressed to say the least and a lot of couples just enjoying the romance of a beautiful evening on the water.

Service was quite prompt considering it was packed and the Natural Blonde Lager was absolutely fresh and delightful. If you prefer a true lager try this. My son was very impressed with the Boneshaker IPA, but at 7.2% that's too much alcohol for me in a beer.

My daughter who is a vegan had the kale salad which she said was really good - I wouldn't touch it for all the tea in China. My son and I split an order of wings with Ghost chili suicide sauce. It was not too hot and for once the hotness really had a distinct flavour. These were close to the best wings I've had in a while. We also split an order of fish tacos which were good, but not up to California standards. The fish and toppings were great, but the tortillas were a bit too floury for my taste.

We all shared an order of frites that were also very good.

Well worth a visit for the beer, the food or the atmosphere. Perfect type of place to feel right at home as a tourist.

“Not Good for a Group”
Reviewed August 28, 2014

We were recently here for a "chapter dinner" for a group from Minnesota during a conference. We had reserved the upper (wraparound level). Don't know where to start with the disappointments but here I go - to start, we paid $50/person and it was definitely not worth that kind of money. Did I pay for being on the water but not seeing it? There were two sets of stairs coming up to this level and the waitstaff continuously used one of the stairways to bring up the hand passed food. This meant that by the time they were halfway through the crowd there was no food left. We never did get any food served. My husband went up to the front and got two cold and greasy fish and chips (one small piece of fish and 1 french fry in a cone) and two burger sliders. When people final got their complaints through they brought up the dessert from the other stairway (plates of chocolates that they put on everyone's table - so it didn't matter which end they appeared at). We did have 2 drink tickets included in our $50, maybe if you drink enough you're willing to accept bad food and bad service - not us!

“Great for Dinner in Harbourfront”
Reviewed August 27, 2014

I've had dinner here with friends/colleagues in winter and summer. Try the fish and chips or the lemon chicken schnitzel with the (416) Local Lager or the Natural Blonde Lager. Good service. Be aware that the line for the patio in the summer is (unfortunately) by the covered but smelly garbage area for the Brewhouse. Thankfully, it doesn't take too long to get out of line and onto the patio with great views of the Lake. Reservations only accepted for indoor seating.
