“Kind of a neat place. A bit over the top though.”
Reviewed December 5, 2013

We went here during Octoberfest and it was full. Food was good. Not great. I had goulash which was so/so. My wife had sausage and she couldn't finish it (didn't like it). Neither one of us are picky eaters. Our friends go there a lot and said this night wasn't normal. I liked the place and it's crazy decor. The owner was super zealous about Germany even though he immigrated there and then Canada. My main complaint other than the food being just ok was the music playing was deafening. I've been to more than my share of Ozzie concerts and certainly can handle loud music. But when 5 people are at a dinner table eating and no one can hear anyone else speaking….well, that's a problem. We would have stayed longer but the music drove us out. Not the music, but the volume.

“Best German food in Toronto? I don't know any better.”
Reviewed November 26, 2013

It's a long trek along Eglinton Avenue East to get to this restaurant, and the strip mall it's located in looks seedy, but the journey is well worth it and the restaurant looks genuinely Bavarian in a kitschy way. The opportunities to eat authentic German food in Toronto are not many, but Little Bavaria offers that opportunity in spades. Whether it's schnitzel, sauerbraten or rindsrouladen, the fare is very good. So is the beer. The prices are right. And the experience of having a South German meal prepared by a chef who is originally from South Asia is unusual but charming. Strongly recommended for people who are not counting calories.

“Zicke, zacke, zicke, zacke, hoi, hoi, hoi!”
Reviewed November 20, 2013

We went for Oktoberfest they had live entertainment so it made for a fun evening. The food was pretty good I had the ham hocks with dumplings, the dumplings tasted like Stouffers, not bad just generically commercial tasting. My Wifey had the schnitzel which was pretty good. It is one of the best German places in Toronto, not that there are many and the owners have had it for 12 years. The owners are Indian, German, Canadian so true Torontonians and started doing Bollywood dancing when the musician took a break which was entertaining. The location isn't the best the classic Scarberian strip mall but it's been here since the late 60's I believe. Worth giving it a shot, great cold German beer served in the classic German glass boot mug. Zicke, zacke, zicke, zacke, hoi, hoi, hoi! Adios amigos!

“A Diamond in the Rough”
Reviewed October 10, 2013

An absolute gem. Discovered by looking for a German restaurant near our motel and was totally shocked at how wonderful it was. As others have mentioned, even the appearance within the strip mall is questionable, but once inside the second door, you feel you have beamed yourself to one of many small restaurants in Germany.

Both of our dishes were not only authentic in taste but plentiful in portions.

Should we ever travel back to Toronto, this will be a definite repeat stop.

“This is a gem!”

Do you want the best German food in Ontario??? This is it!!!
This restaurant is in a crazy, little strip mall in Scarborough but the restaurant itself feels like Germany. The food is outstanding and there is lots of it. It is the type of food your German grandmother would have made (I had one of those!)
The owner is German although he has an East Indian background. It is just a skin colour though, this guy is as German as they come. My dad loves him.
Usually the restaurant is busy but we have never failed to get seated right away. It makes a nice combination with the little Scarborough Theatre across the road. They have fantastic community plays like Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream-coat or South Pacific. In some ways this is better than going downtown and certainly much cheaper!
Go to Little Bavaria and have a big meal!
