We went there for dinner to celebrate my birthday. As I have never had any food from Okinawa, it was an interesting experience.

Service was fair, maybe it was a busy night and it was a bit slow.

The place was big enough, so even though they do not take reservation, you are likely being seated within a few minutes. I like their wood furniture and the mirror ceiling.

Some of the food was quite interesting. I enjoyed their Peanut Tofu - especially the texture was not something you can find anywhere in Toronto. The pig ear was pretty good too, with the crispy texture.

However, I was not a fan of their rainbow sushi. Cream cheese filling was not an ingredient I can imagine putting with sushi together. It was rather awkward. The ramen was not something they are famous for, or maybe it is, with their name ``Ryoji Izakaya and Ramen`` The soup base was not strong enough.

Overall it was an interesting experience.

We were a party of 5, family and friends and wanted to catch up while enjoying great food and we found it at Ryoji. This newly renovated restaurant on College Street is small, but looks much larger thanks to some clever interior decorating. You cannot make reservations, but that did not matter as we had a chance to sit at a large table by the window, have drinks and chat. We decided to go with the specials of the day and were delighted with the results. They were fantastic and delicious, beautifully served and without much delay, so that we ordered several times and yet did not spend all evening there. Despite its size and the fact that it was busy, we were able to converse easilty without shouting. The service was very attentive and helpful. The prices were reasonable for an evening of great food, excellent service and great fun!

The waitress needs to dial down the perk, but having said that she was attentive. They also need to revisit the elevator music. It tries to deliver a real taste of Japan, yet a lot of it did not feel authentic. We perused the menu and chose our selections, but we were then told they were not available, in particular seared sea bass. It has huge potential, but they need to pay attention to the detail. Decor is fun and interesting. Of the dishes we had, it was a hit and miss affair, excellent sashimi and sushi, but the monk fish livers (offered as a substitute for seared sea bass), was close to inedible.
