We went after the theatre on a Friday night. Dbar was crowded, there was a 45 minute wait for a table. We stayed at the bar, which was a little awkward for four people. Service however was efficient.
Wine and cocktails were on the small side. Prices were high...

Tried out the new Four Seasons in Toronto this weekend, dbar and Cafe Boulud, the Cafe was great, but dbar is a bit of a disappointment , the staff from Avenue did not make the trip, instead brand new , seemingly not fabulously trained staff here and are not that familiar with customer service standards that we long enjoyed at Avenue... one female bartender insisted that they did not have champagne by the bottle, took over ten minutes to provide me with a wine list and appeared to have better things than being helpful and pleasant, sorry to inconvenience her...
Once we got a table, there were no chairs , as a table that should seat two and now served six had taken seats from all the surrounding tables , that should have been assigned in a timely fashion. The airport lounge atmosphere of dbar reminds one of not a great Maple Leaf lounge, and the sight lines and lack of banquet seating are a miss, lots of area for improvement to say the least. Maybe this place is appropriately named , but at a Four Seasons dbar should not be D- LIST?

We visited yesterday (6th October 2012) and had already made 'allowances' for a big operation in it's second day of business, however, our (family of three) visit to the 'D Bar' for some late lunch was simply disappointing ..... excessively long wait for drinks, table set by server who did not seem to understand in which orientation knives and forks are presented, no napkins either from same server and only received, from a chap who behaved as if he was in authority, after we had to ask twice and go and find him .... when they arrived they were small squares of tissue? why did everyone have linen?
Lunch was bizarre .... our son asked a for 'Yankee' burger with nothing at all accompanying it, my wife asked for the 'Firehouse' burger with pulled pork and i had a sausage 'dish' ..... my son received a burger with everything on it (the diametric opposite of his request), my wife received a burger with no pulled pork and the sausage dish must be a child's started such was the paucity of portion.
So the burgers went back and to our surprise returned, it took two minutes to consume the sausage and the quickest and most successful transaction was the presentation of the account with no mention of an apology or even a gesture of a drink .... you know just something that may well have redeemed our poor experience and brought us back .......
In conclusion the 'D Bar' seemed to be lacking leadership, lacking in attention to detail, lacking in some basic knowledge / training seems to be missing, lacking in dish checking and communication in the kitchen ...... in one word 'Lacking' .... plenty of room to improve before our return then. End
